In this instance, just as in so many before, some Jews appear to have forgotten what it is to be a real Jew, much as others have forgotten how to be real Muslims or Christians. Indeed, the situation may be even worse than that. And why? Because the response witnessed here is as predictable as it is futile. It merely follows a pattern, instinctive to us as human beings, indistinguishable from that of any other race or creed upon this planet. It is a reaction to intolerable conditions but one without any hope of dealing with them in a responsible and expeditious manner.

If the memory of this person and the many tens of thousands that have suffered much the same fate is not to be lost to a future where only more of the same can be expected, then an entirely different approach and attitude to such events must be found, undertaken and acted upon as soon as is humanly possible.
