It’s all a bit of a dilemma for everyone really. It’s also part of a hugely complex problem, one so old now that its origins are lost in the mists of time.There is about it a quality not unlike that of an immense Gordian Knot, a pattern of forces, feelings, memories and fears, all intertwined and absolutely refusing to unravel. No matter how careful or clumsy the techniques applied nor the supervision or advice at hand, the labyrinthine nature of so conflicted a contest will never yield to reasoned argument nor rational remedy. And the fact that both argument and remedy have proved so ineffective in the past does not bode well for future prospects.
Then is it time to use Alexander’s approach to the puzzle and cut through to its core, bypassing every one of the intricate details and barriers that have long maintained it in being, much to the cost of so many and the sorrows of millions more?
But whatever the weapon it is that we wield here, do we still command that strength and keenness of eye sufficient to strike down this monster resident for so long within us, a creature made in our own image and one that now seems immune to every form of persuasion ever known?
Except, perhaps, for this one.
