The Danger Of Not Holding Trump Accountable

Since Trump has been president, he has shown the true colors of the Modern GOP. That includes hatred for Democrats, minorities and women. The hatred from Trump and his base is against everything we fight for as a people. We fight for human dignity, acceptance, consideration of others, and safety of all people in our country. Trump’s unaccountable bullying and dividing behavior continues to empower the worst kind of people that currently hold positions in office as a representative of the GOP. In the past Trump has relentlessly attacked the members of  “The Squad” and we saw the manifesto of the shooter in El Paso was also inspired by Trump. These are not isolated incidents, there is a destructive pattern of hate that leads to incitement and results can be fatal.

Just this week, a GOP Texas State Representative Briscoe Cain tweets out a clear threat towards Presidential Candidate Beto O’Rourke. Making clear why an AR15 style rifle should be banned. Republican Candidate Elizabeth Heng, produced a video which started out with Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s picture of being burned revealing images from the Khmer Rouge massacre. The Republican Party has become unhinged like never before. And I get it, why stop when we have a Republican President who continues to divide our country with racism and bigotry and remains unaccountable for his hate?

What will it take for the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to finally have the courage to start impeachment hearings? What will it take for old school Republicans to finally have the courage to stand up to Trump and the modern-day Republican Reps. The longer we continue to allow Trump to get away with what he pleases, the harder it will be to bring back decency in the Republican Party. Incitement like we have seen could lead to terror attacks on Democratic officials and candidates and more. The reason it falls on Trump is because he’s supposed to be a leader, his people look up to him for influence and mentoring, and when a leader’s people act up, he’s responsible for their actions

I have become ashamed of my former party with the lack of testicular fortitude of the Republican officials that claimed to have morals and principles. Where is the outrage from you towards those who have hijacked your party? Speaker Nancy Pelosi, what will it take for you to lead and finally hold Trump accountable?
