The Epitome of the Republican Party

Many of my readers here at Times of Israel may have remembered me being a very right-wing conservative Trump supporter. A lot has changed since then. I have learned what it really means to be a liberal Democrat, and at the same time snapped out of the MAGA trance to see what MAGA really is as well as who Trump really is.

When I was a conservative, long before Trump entered into the picture, I foolishly accepted the narrative that Democrats and Hollywood were all about taking our rights away. Whether it’s freedom of speech or the 2nd amendment. Long story short, I found all the lies I was led to believe were just that, lies. I also foolishly believed in the demonizing of Democratic officials, like President Obama, especially thought he was Muslim from Kenya, and I did not give the benefit of the doubt with Hillary Clinton even after she proved her innocence, still wanted her to be locked up. Conservatives have this misconception that the United States is still the United States of 1776 and that there’s only one way of life. All of this is because of brainwashing conservative media with their fear mongering scaring people into believing these lies. Truth is, liberals, Hollywood celebrities, regular people like you and me are fighting for the rights of others. This means just because you are fighting for the rights of others, doesn’t mean they are going after your rights.

This past week was the peak of Republican conservative outrage. We have kids in detention centers, and I as a Jew take no offense of the concentration camps comparison by Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio- Cortez because these conditions were just as bad as concentration camps prior to them becoming death camps. What took the cake is that conservatives were outraged at a shoe company for bringing a shoe off the shelves because it was covered with a symbol of racism, the Betsy Ross flag. History shows, that America always had a dark past of racism. There’s continued acts of police brutality towards the black community but Conservatives are more upset that the new Little Mermaid movie stars a person of color.

We need to get more involved in our communities and start waking people up with dialogue, show them what it means to have empathy. Talk about racism, especially the real meaning behind white privilege. We need to start holding these conservative pundits accountable, because that’s where the indoctrinating starts, and it’s propaganda is accepted by GOP officials themselves. I believe we can and we must before it gets worse.
