Dutch lawmaker and top-racist Geert [cheart] Wilders has again tried to provoke Muslim anger. He again started about a contest to depict the Prophet Mohammed, shortly afterward closing it declaring a winner. Why?
Like all big anti-Semites, big anti-Muslim mongers are big liars. They don’t share an opinion, as someone recently said so well, but share hatred.
It is known that a depiction of the Islam’s main prophet is blasphemy. Therefore, the insult of such a ‘contest’ will surely invoke rage.
Wilders want this anger to say: ‘See how intolerant these people are?’
There is a place to tell Muslims in Europe proper that in a democracy, there should be room for everyone. That democracy rejects any idea that one form of life is better than another. If that is ‘against their sensitivities,’ they should work on their intolerance. Especially in traditionally tolerant the Netherlands. But that doesn’t give any non-Muslim permission to be insensitive to them.
It doesn’t compare to say: ‘But Christians don’t have this sensitivity.’ You need to compare them to other vulnerable groups. Don’t tell them that they’re stupid, more primitive, more immoral, etc. and then say: be calm.
So, Wilders’ attempt to ‘prove’ that Muslims are intolerant by insulting their religion, is faulty. It’s important to understand his deceit.
Muslims in Western democracies sure should demand that Muslims abide by the rules for everyone. But that doesn’t give a license to anyone to disrespect Islam. Muslims who think that not following Islam is insulting it, should be corrected. But so should anti-Muslims who equate Muslim religious coercion and Muslim expectation to be treated with respect.
The Dutch must change their laws so that they can jail such hate mongers. It’s not enough to say: ‘Alas, he’s allow to speak like this.’ The situation is so perverse that if an extremist answers such a provocation, Heaven forbid, Wilders gets even more votes. Someone who preaches hatred is anti-democratic and to block him is anti-anti-democratic: pro democracy.
