The ‘Other Side’ is Real
The Other Side” Is Real – And It’s Israel
What’s wrong with the world today? A hundred years ago, the world was full of colonial empires, nations carving up the globe with little regard for the people already living there. But after World War I, something shifted. Humanity, scarred and sobered, decided that colonialism was no longer the way forward.
That’s why the League of Nations was created in 1919, to build a better, more just world. It wasn’t perfect, but it helped bring dozens of countries toward independence. Here’s a short list:
-
Iraq – British mandate → independence 1932
-
Jordan – British mandate
-
Lebanon – French mandate
-
Syria – French mandate
-
Tanzania – British mandate
-
Rwanda & Burundi – Belgian mandate
-
Nauru, Micronesia, Palau – Pacific mandates
-
Israel – British mandate
Yes. Israel. Just like the others. Voted into legitimacy by the same international framework. But somehow, only one of these nations is still being questioned today. Why is that?
A Sick Obsession
Israel, the tiniest, most successful, democratic nation in the Middle East, is the only country whose existence is still up for debate in academic halls, on the streets of Western cities, and across social media platforms. It’s bizarre. It’s obsessive. It’s deeply disturbing.
It’s not about oil; Israel has none. It’s not about colonialism; Israelis returned to their ancestral homeland, a land where Jewish presence never ceased. So, what is it then?
Could it be… the oldest hatred dressed in new clothes? Antisemitism wearing the mask of anti-Zionism?
I remember vividly what it felt like. As a child, I lived in Syria with my brother and parents. Israel couldn’t be named Israel, it was “The Other Side.” That was the only name allowed. Like a curse. A taboo. A place that must not exist.
And woe to your bones if you said ‘Israel’ out loud. You feared for your life. One wrong word, and you could end up hanging in the square near our home in Damascus.”
That’s how deep the hatred went.
And that hatred hasn’t disappeared, t’s gone global.
The Hypocrisy Is Blinding
Today, so-called progressives scream for “Palestine,” a name the Romans gave the land to erase Judea and the Jewish people. They deny Israel’s right to exist while claiming to fight colonialism. But Palestine was never a sovereign state. Never recognized by the League of Nations. Never with defined borders, a government, a king, an anthem or a currency.
In contrast, Israel was recognized and affirmed by the same post-colonial process that gave birth to dozens of other nations. But when Israel defends herself, she is vilified.
The World Forgets What Israel Gives
While protestors tear down Israeli flags in Western capitals, IsraAID, Israel’s humanitarian arm, has quietly been saving lives around the world for over two decades:
IsraAID, founded in 2001, is an Israel-based non-governmental organization that provides emergency response and long-term development assistance worldwide. Since its inception, IsraAID has operated in over 60 countries, addressing crises ranging from natural disasters to refugee emergencies. Below is a chronological list of notable IsraAID missions by year:

And in between… Syria. Yes, Syria! Israel quietly treated Syrian civilians and children in Israeli hospitals, while Syria officially denies her right to exist.
Even now, after the horror of October 7th, 2023, the world largely shrugged. No mass protests for the murdered Israelis. No UN emergency sessions. No flags changed to blue and white.
Israel stood alone.
And she will continue to stand, because she is real. And because the “other side” is not some forbidden realm. The Other Side is Israel. And Israel is here to stay.
Final Thought
If you truly believe in justice, equality, and human rights, it’s time to confront the double standard. If you question Israel’s right to exist, but not Rwanda’s, not Jordan’s, not Syria’s, Than ask yourself: Why?
If you’re obsessed with erasing the one Jewish state, than ask yourself: Why?
And if you can’t even say the word Israel without choking on your own hatred, than remember: The Other Side is real. It has a name. And it will not disappear.
Its name is Israel. Get used to it.
