The truth that isn’t fit to print

Co-existing with Hamas rockets flying over our heads is our new normal. On the radio, on TV, on highway billboard signs  we are exhorted to pull over to the side of the road, lie down with hands over our heads and wait for ten minutes until the rocket explodes  as if  it’s normal for death to be raining down from the skies. We don’t have to live this way. There is a way out but it isn’t one that our leader will ever dare to mention because it’s doesn’t jibe with CNN , the New York Times and the Western Democracies whose favor we court. If we want to live and thrive in this land the only solution is read the Torah and follow  the 613 commandments.

Think about it , our claim into this land comes from the  Bible. The bible states that this land is ours. Just open up a chumash and read Rashi’s first gloss on the very first word in the Book of Books. Rashi teaches us that the reason why the Torah begins with the creation story  is that one day  the nations of the world will accuse us of robbing the land of Israel from them–today’s Palestinian claim– and we can turn to the Bible  and prove that the land is ours.

Rabbi Menachem Mendel Shneerson, the late Lubavitcher Rebbe famously urged Israeli diplomats to read this passage at the  UN. Needless to say, no one as of yet has taken him up on his suggestion and that is the problem.

We, meaning our leaders don’t believe in the Bible. Binyamin Netanyahu walks around bareheaded, dines on abominations, fails to recite his daily prayers and because of his lack of grounding in authentic Judaism he is confused about our  claim to the land. He’s been brainwashed by the press to believe that the specious Palestinians are justified to the point that he favors the suicidal two state solution.  Sadly a good part, possibly even the majority of the Jewish nation in Zion follow his lead and that is tragic.

In this week’s Torah portion, G-d is quite clear. The land is ours, even the other side of the Jordan River,  but  custody is given to the Jews on a conditional basis. Observe the 613 commandments and the land will be ours–without any dispute, Violate them and watch the land spit us out–spitting it the Bible’s own metaphor. It doesn’t take a prophet to see that what we are experiencing now is part of the spitting process–liken it to gagging without actually vomiting.

G-d isn’t quite evicting us. He is protecting us every minute of every day as He deflects missiles into   open territory –an open miracle of Biblical proportions. At the same time He’s allowing Hamas to scare the wits out of us, turning the Jewish state into an existential foxhole so that we can discover  Him.

When  this happens, and it will,  Hamas warriors will put down their rockets out of fear realizing that we’ve got G-d on our side.  We need to wake up to this.

Peace negotiations won’t accomplish anything. Our enemies will continue to trying to destroy us until we can embrace who we are –the loyal and devoted sons of our Heavenly Father who can and will vanquish all of our foes as soon as we indicate our fealty to Him.
