The War on Christmas is Bull $hit

Back in my conservative days, I believed in the war on Christmas. I watched Sean Hannity and Bill O’ Reilly regularly installing fear to their viewers that the evil Dems are taking their free speech of Merry Christmas away and replacing it with Happy Holidays around this time of year. People believed them as I saw many posts on Facebook as well on Twitter. Many people out in public, or at Federal places of work will say or decorate their office space with Happy Holidays, but it’s out of the kindness of their heart for consideration of people who are Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, etc.

No one is taking any rights away people are just being considerate. Conspiracies from conservative pundits even put the thought of President Obama taking the right away even though he said Merry Christmas every year, this is a right-wing talking point that President Trump has used since his campaign, and continues to lie about it at his rallies to continue to misinform people for votes.

The war on Christmas is nothing but a sham to install fear for votes and people saying Happy Holidays are just being considerate. I who am Jewish and light the Menorah during our holiday of Hanukkah takes no offense if a person wishes me Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah or Happy Holidays. This is a time to be considerate of others, not a time to lie for votes or be self-righteous pricks. I may come off a bit blunt here but it’s time for people to get over themselves and just think of others for a change. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and Festivus for the rest of us.
