This American Jew sits out on the 2024 Election

It’s been a long time since I have written anything political, especially since I deactivated my Twitter account because of the rise of antisemitism on that hell site. I realized I was allowing it to affect me with bitterness and anger, and I felt I needed a break to clear my head and refocus.

Since I deactivated my account, my head cleared, I enjoyed real life outside of social media, got my degree, and got a job. Even though I wasn’t on Twitter, I still watch the news to stay informed. Seeing the antisemitism in these protests by far leftists truly sickened me. Now, I support all free speech, even if I disagree. Some of these protests have gone too far, like harassing Jewish students on college campuses and calling for the genocide of the Jewish people with their “River to the Sea” chant. In recent protests, there was graffiti showing support for Hamas. This terrorist organization wants nothing more than the extermination of the Jewish people, whether in Israel or in the Diaspora.

Now here is the disappointing part I’ve seen from the Democratic Party, a Party that I used to think that had moral clarity. Whether it’s Democratic politicians, pundits, or regular citizesn, they will not hold their own accountable for antisemitism when it happens on their side. Sure, it’s easy to condemn antisemitism when it happens in the oppoisitoin party, but are silent when it happens on the left. Anytime antisemitism is brought up, talking heads will always defer the issue by bringing up other forms of hate which is usually condemned by all Democrats, Independents, and some Republicans. So why can’t antisemitism be the focus of discussion on it’s own even with statistics showing antisemitism lead is leading the reports with the biggest rise of hate crime in the United States.

I heard parts of Vice President Kamala Harris’ speech,at the DNC, and I just feel that she, just like any other politician will say things like “they support Israel and its right to defend itself” just for the Jewish vote. She also has no mentioning of condeming antisemitism in the US. like most of her Democratic colleagues have been silent about. Harris’ VP pick Tim Walz walks away when asked about the fallen Israeli victims that were found murdered by Hamas as you can see here. Only time will tell how VP Harris will respond to the Israeli Hamas conflict if she is elected as President. I also wish there was more condemnation and concern for Jewish Americans from her and the Democratic Party when antisemitims comes from their side.

Of course the same can be said from the Republican party, they usually ingore antying their people do but will condemn if it happens on the left. And honestly, if Trump didn’t lead in the Janurary 6th insurrection, I would say that voting for Trump isn’t off the table, and mabye it might not be as we get closer to November. I just feel as an American Jew abandoned by both parties unless they want our votes. As of right now I am sitting out this one, for the first time in my adult life.

I do appreciate everyone that has supported me in my political journey, but sadly, this past year has really been an eye opener to me on how the majority of the left feels about American Jews or anyone else who cares about the safety of the Jewish people, whether we live in Israel or in the United States.
