To Very Caring Readers
Dear Friends:
Since my decision to cease from writing in the TIMES OF ISRAEL which appeared in”When We Must Say Goodbye” I have been overwhelmed by e-mail messages of support from 17 different readers, most in Israel and the others from those in the USA, Australia, Brazil and Poland.
I am familiar with the names of those living in Israel but not so well those living elsewhere. I am truly deeply touched by your caring and well-wishes.
But it behooves me to clarify one vital argument., The editors of TOI did NOT… I repeat, did NOT, ask me to stop submitting articles for publication.
The decision was mine and mine alone. And it was based only upon a difference of opinion between me and them.
As everyone who writes knows that the editor always has the final word. They had theirs and I was not able to agree nor to accept it.
The past five years saw 1,128 of my articles published. As reader Sarah Tuttle-Singer wrote, more than 49,000 readers have enjoyed my “Miracle on Dan Bus # 4”.
I am a sentimental man from my youth to my very old age and such kindness and warm remarks touch my heart deeply.
God bless all my devoted readers and keep you and your families safe and in good health.
May the coming New Year be for peace, love, tolerance and caring one for each other.
I doubt that the editors will publish these words but it is important for me to emphasize that no blame is theirs. The decision was painfully mine and only mine.
The editors had been very kind and helpful to me in many ways since my first article appeared in 2015.
I look forward eagerly to reading the future blogs written by many gifted individuals.
Shalom/Salaam/ Keep in touch if you will.
