Ukraine and Russia: the War

This war shares “ugly” with all wars but neither of the combatants is my friend. My parents said they were born in Russia; they spoke Russian. Years later I learned that Kiev and Oddessa were in the Ukraine. Russia and Ukraine have an intertwined history going back 500 years; Ukraine’s most recent independence came in 1992. I remember stories from my parents about the Cossacks; I remember the news about BabiYar. “OK, but Zelensky is Jewish”. Yes, his sons are baptized and I have heard he was married in a Church. Does the USA have a link to this war? Biden’s son on Burisma, the invite to NATO, the Ukrainian soldiers using sophisticated USA weapons from the first week of the war (how long does it take to learn how to use these weapons), the Nordstream bombing (see Seymour Hersh), 100’s of billions in USA and no end in sight. I don’t care who wins but the USA stake is dangerous re: pushing into a larger war and for the domestic USA needs being neglected. Biden is committed and the above suggests why. But why is Israel taking sides?
