US Elections

Kamala Harris had a mountain to climb. Her starting point was not great. For some time, the White House did not disclose that Biden was not altogether fit for the job. The “debate” with Trump disclosed the secret. It became clear that if Biden were to continue the campaign, he would lose. Then, and only then, the Democratic Party sought a replacement. The obvious choice was Harris who jumped into the race mere three months before the elections. She had a lot of catch-up to do. She did well, but not enough.

And then, the Democratic Party is too progressive for the majority of the American people. The fact that Harris is a woman of minority descent is viewed negatively by many Americans. The nation is still not ready for a woman in the White House. Harris did not have the best cards to compete.

The Americans preferred a felon whose morals are suspect, whose values are questionable, whose conduct and behavior shameful; a narcissist who puts himself at the centre of everything and whose decision-making processes are not always logical. With Trump expect the unexpected, troubled human relationships, constant reshuffling in government and in the White House, vile words, derogatory expressions regarding people he does not like, and he does not like many people, divisive policies and irresponsible conduct when issues like health and the environment are concerned.

This is Trump’s last term in the White House (if he does not attempt to change the Constitution, as Putin did). If there is a silver lining, then this is it. I hope America, and the world, will be able to cope with Trump in the next four years. God bless America.
