What’s the Goal of This Impressive Operation? And the Disturbing Chinese Angle
The Israeli Mossad operation, as claimed, was indeed spectacular. It doesn’t showcase innovative technological capabilities, but rather demonstrates good old-fashioned infiltration of a supply chain and product tampering. The Mossad is renowned for its infiltration skills, establishment of front companies, and similar operations, having successfully executed such missions numerous times.
The operation’s purpose remains questionable. Thousands of Hezbollah members have been wounded to varying degrees, but what does this achieve? If it’s not to capitalize as a prelude to a broader military operation and destruction of Hezbollah’s infrastructure, while some of their command echelon and executive personnel are hospitalized, then what is its aim? The goal of restoring deterrence in the north and allowing residents to return home hasn’t been realized yet.
Currently, this operation seems to squander a significant strategic opportunity. Was it intended for PR purposes or to thwart Gideon Sa’ar’s political career? Are small political considerations at play? The outcome appears to be more regional chaos.
Prime Minister Netanyahu’s recent decisions across various domains seem to opposite to Israel’s citizens’ interests and the country’s future. This raises questions about his motivations. Is it the joy of destruction? Revenge? Unknown interests?
We understand why Messianic zealots like Ben-Gvir, Strook, Smotrich, and others might desire a war of Gog and Magog, viewing Netanyahu as the Messiah’s donkey. But what is Benjamin Netanyahu’s stake in all this?
In days like these we tend to forget about our hostages in Gaza, and such operations are harming the possibility of reaching an agreement to release the few who are still alive, by promoting an all out war in the Northern front.
But this is still te morale thing to do and the most important thing Israel should do.
Possible Global Implications
A disturbing consequence of this pager-blasting operation is the ideas it might inspire in problematic regimes worldwide. What might the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party be contemplating now, given that China manufactures most of the world’s phones and digital products?
The only limitation they face is the amount of material it can produce and add to batteries, along with associated costs.
Does this mean all Chinese-manufactured phones are now potential life-threatening bombs that can be activated at any moment? What about the electric vehicles we drive? Should we fear not only China but also South Korea, the USA, and other countries involved in the production chain? It’s a deeply troubling thought.
If you’ve recently purchased a phone, you might want to take good care of it and keep it for years to come. Maybe just to avoid any surprises.
