Why??

Sometimes, I wonder why things happen.

Looking at Paris this week, I wonder “why”: Why did innocent people have to die? Why is this happening?

There are no good answers.

Some say a cartoon caused it. No, it did not. Drawing a cartoon does not lead someone to murder another human being.

Some say extremism caused it. Maybe, Maybe not.

Today, we hear of a kosher supermarket, hostages, shooting. And the cause is clear.

Antisemitism. Hatred of Jews.

That old black spot on the soul of mankind. This is 2015. It might as well be 1935 again.

Judaism..a beautiful faith of the ancients. Hated, because we have the audacity to practice it. The audacity to be proud to be Jews.

Muslims and Christians don’t have to be afraid. They don’t have to hide their kippahs. They don’t have to have unmarked churches or mosques. They don’t have to live in fear. But Jews do, in 2015.

Why? Why do we have to live in fear of violence? Why does the world turn it’s head to it?

I don’t know. All I know is I am scared, and I should not be in 2015.
