Why Israel’s Technology Scene Is Outperforming

It is no longer news that the technology in Israel is one of the best in the world. This is not mare hearsay as there are facts to back up the claim. In fact, this article discusses some of the landmarks of the technological landscape in Israel. So, let’s get straight down to business.

Number of scientists and technicians

While the United States can boast of 85 scientists/technicians per 10,000 employees, Japan can boast of 83 for the same number of Japanese employees, but Israel has up to 140 scientists per 10,000 employees . Isn’t the ratio impressive?

Israeli Centres of Research Excellence (I-CORE)

I-CORE is a program established in Israel in 2011 to promote scientific researches in the country. The research centres are managed by highly successful scientists and academicians. The program is being heavily funded. For instance, an initiative named The Sixth Higher Education Plan once invested about NIS 300 million on the program.

The program also got funded under other schemes and from different organizations. This is why Israel has numerous world-class, well-equipped, and state-of-the-art research centres. Apart from this program, some Israeli inventions are the reasons people believe that Israel has gotten a front row seat for the world technology show and the trend may remain that way for several more years.

To prove that Israel does not have a high number of scientists for nothing, here are some fantastic inventions from Israel.

Production of the best flowers

Yes, Israel produces and exports some of the best flowers in the world. What makes this feat highly impressive is that the temperature in Israel is hot and unfavorable. Yet, Israel managed to grow their flowers in a Moshav, where the plants are grown in special scientifically-controlled conditions.

The fact that these flowers are exported speaks volumes about their quality. Right now, some of the flowers are:

  • Gladiolus
  • Iris
  • Orchids
  • Carnations
  • Tulips
  • Lilies
  • Roses

The Sniffphone

The Sniffphone is one of the technological breakthroughs created in Israel. It is a diagnostic device that is used to detect diseases like Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, and Cancer. This device works with an accuracy of 86%. However, it is still undergoing medical trials. This device was invented in Israel.

The PillCam

This is a digestible and disposal medical camera that patients can actually swallow. The camera helps to diagnose and treat infections like digestive system cancer, intestinal disorders, and more. The best part is that the device has been approved by FDA. It was created in Israel.

The World’s Scariest Glass Bridge

Haim Dotan, an Israeli architect designed the world’s scariest and most beautiful glass bridge in Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. The bridge is 6 meters wide and 430 meters long. This bridge allows users to look down and have an aerial view of the ravine that is about 300 meters below the bridge. The bridge has become a tourist center because it is a fantastic specimen of human creativity and innovation.

Conclusively, there are several other facts that have brought Israel to the forefront of the technological space all over the world. The ones discussed above are just a few of them.
