Why not just shut down the prison system?

Apparently Israel is now willing to release another 400 Palestinian prisoners just to keep Abbas negotiating for the state that he supposedly wants.

Since Israel is releasing the worst prisoners it has in its cells, why not just release everyone?

What justification is there for keeping lesser criminals in jail, when the ones who have committed genuine atrocities — crimes against humanity even — are going free? Why should the embezzlers and common thieves stay in jail when the mass murderers are walking?

I am reminded of the satirical Thomas de Quincey witticism: “If once a man indulges himself in murder, very soon he comes to think little of robbing; and from robbing he next comes to drinking and sabbath –breaking, and from that to incivility and procrastination.” But the twisted, reverse scale of seriousness of crime created by the prisoner release is no laughing matter.

Yigal Amir must be feeling like a real sucker that he assassinated prime minister Yitzhak Rabin, instead of blowing up a busload of Israelis in the name of the Palestinian people.

What’s the point of Israel even having a justice system at all? Can’t the government see the damage they are doing to the rule of law?

If Israel can cope with these sick life destroyers roaming free, surely it can cope with some fraudsters being on the streets.

Shutting down the prison system, and, come to think of it, the entire justice system, could save Israel billions of shekels. Why not just do that, since that’s the effect this release is having?

Israel is now not just behaving incompetently. It is actually violating even the Noahide Laws — those basic tenets of humanity — namely, the one which says that a society must set up a justice system. In doing so, it is slipping from its high moral standards to becoming one of the lowest and basest countries in the world. It is placing itself outside of civilisation.

This is not just the concern of Israel’s Jews. All Jews, all humans even, across the world, must be concerned — because their governments are being complicit in this. The US government is pressuring, possibly even blackmailing Israel to go ahead with the release. The EU is too. Everyone must protest this abuse of humanity.
