Zen or Yen

My words are no longer playing

because some are saying

we should sell the Greatest Generation

down the river.

They are saying

there must be a limit

to our helping.

They are saying

the elderly

are robbing the future

of the young.

But if I sell the Greatest Generation

down the river

it will send shiver.

I will have traded with

my heart

soul

and ethics.

What sort of life and future

do I then have left?

I know this doesn’t rhyme.

But life

doesn’t rhyme

all the time.

And I feel fine

without the rhyme

knowing that we tried to give

the Greatest Generation

a true NHS lifeline.

We genuinely tried

and anything less

would have been a crime!

In the days of old

money was measured in gold;

and I have been told

such society was very, very cold.

Today,

money has become exclusively political.

This transition of society is very critical

when moving towards good governance

creating a society with more tolerance.

Citizens protested over the chokehold-zero-sum-game society

and many politicians supported them.

What if living spaces

were built for places

with joyful faces       *(3D printing homes within 24 hours or one month.)

and no chokehold cases.

Would we then be able to see

what society

should really be?                                   *(Affordable housing.)

The eco-friendly community spoke their vision

and millions around the world carried it out.

What if energy

was eco-friendly and free.                   *(Renewable energy; solar and wind.)

Would we then be able to see

what society

should really be?

With free renewable solar energy

we could desalinate seawater for free.

Would we then be able to see

what society

should really be?

The animal-friendly community spoke their vision

and millions around the world carried it out.

What if we catered for animal friendliness,

more veganism and vegetarianism;

increasing eco-friendliness,

increasing humanitarianism.

Would we then be able to see

what society

should really be?

Protesters expressed their opinion

and millions around the world supported them.

Not being afraid of China

and its breach

of freedom of speech.

Would we then be able to see

what society

should really be?

What if we shut China’s cruel

animal “wet markets”,                            *(Calls for closure of Chinese wet markets)

stopping the fuel

for pandemic targets.

Would we then be able to see

what society

should really be?

Churchill finished his speech

and the spirit of Dunkirk made Britain victorious.

“…The new world with all its power and might

steps forth to the rescue

and the liberation

of the old.”   *(Winston Churchill to the House of Commons, June 4, 1940.)

Boris Johnson delivered his speech

and The Age of True Society came together on it.

Dear Citizen. Cher Citoyen.                                 *(Citizen in French: citoyen)

What if the spirit of NHS-volunteering

was “stored” in the Bank of England;              *(How do we define money?)

offering society, the needed cheering

and a friendly thank-you hand.

Would we then be able to see

what a citizen

should really be?

What if Universal Basic Income

was supported across our land;

offering needed stability to come

and a friendly thank-you hand.

Would we then be able to see

what society

should really be?

Sir Keir Starmer acted in unison with PM Johnson

and the unity made it happen.

Dear Citizen. Cher Citoyen.

Some may call this – a slippery slope.

I call this – the true scope.

Queen Elizabeth II lifted the spirits

whilst nurses and doctors were in the midst of the battle of saving lives.

I am speaking to you at what I know is an increasingly challenging time.

While we have faced challenges before, this one is different.

I hope in the years to come

everyone will be able to take pride in how they responded to this challenge.

And those who come after us will say,

“The Britons of this generation were as strong as any.”

Let’s work together on this journey.
