100 billion dollars is smashing Oslo
Whatever was left of the Oslo movement — to trade land for peace and to win favour in the eyes of the nations — was just smashed to smithereens.
Because by announcing, just before he leaves for Washington, that Israel will invest a hundred billion dollars into becoming self-sufficient with weaponry, and no longer have to depend on others for armaments, Bibi let the world know that Israel is solidifying its status as a superpower, no longer subject to the whims of others.
By doing this, Netanyahu is saying that Israel’s security is non-negotiable.
That just as every country hits back when attacked, so too Israel is prepared to defend itself.
World leaders will no longer be able to apply leverage against Israel, by threatening to withhold weapons if Israel dares to defend itself.
“Turn the other cheek,” is what leaders have told Israel, even though they themselves don’t hesitate to attack when they are attacked. “Israel must be more merciful,” they demand. “Israel must turn the other cheek.”
Two years of defying the world, two years of persistently fighting radicals, and now a hundred billion dollars, just told all these leaders that Israel is fully prepared to mobilize and attack when the situation demands it, no matter what these leaders say.
This is also a message to all would-be terrorists. Propaganda and false sob stories will no longer matter. Trying to persuade nations to apply pressure on Israel won’t work. Terrorists will now think twice before attempting terrorism.
Because Israel has changed.
Because when Israel responds to a threat by mobilizing and showing that they are prepared to attack, they won’t have to. The mobilization itself will deter enemies.
Israel is strengthening its security. And with the Almighty’s continuous miraculous help, Israel will be secure, and the Middle East and the world will become peaceful.
