A Bridge Between Heaven and Earth

(Reflections on the Haftorah for Terumah)

(Book of Kings l, 5 :26 to 6 :13)

A palace in eternal time beyond space,

« Baruch ha’Makom, Baruch Hoo »,

Blessed is the Space, blessed be He, through me and you,

A domain that remains forever graced.

When our spirit emerges to overcome

Who we are, to whom we can become,

We construct a bridge between heaven and earth

To welcome the Divine Presence in our rebirth,

To an abode for which the Lord awaits;

From generation to generation for our sake,

Assigning David’s son Solomon to the task,

And we await Solomon’s descendant at last.

To this day, the Temple resides in prayers we say,

With its treasured blueprint, ready for its light of day.
