A Jewish awakening, a global reckoning

After Bondi Beach, over 1000 Jews reportedly put on Tefillin there, and many more took home menorahs to light up the world.

Australia began a re-examination of how they have dealt with antisemitism since October 7.

England decided that chants of ‘globalizing the Intafada’ would no longer be allowed during protests, and they arrested someone for doing so.

Jews are discovering themselves. The world is discovering the importance of being morally upright, and the importance of protecting Jews by stopping hatred that is aimed not just at Jews, but ultimately at everyone.

It’s hard to predict where all this is going. But it looks good.

In the book of Daniel chapter 2, Daniel interprets the King‘s dream which is about a statue made of different materials,  each representing various kingdoms, and eventually a stone will come off of a mountain, smash the statue in its feet, and fill the world. Commentaries explain that this refers to the light of Moshiach, when true moral values will shine, showing the world how to go forward.

In chapter 7 of the book of Daniel, he sees a night vision of four beasts that rise from the great sea, and the fourth beast has 10 horns, and then another small horn emerges. The beast is thrown into heavenly fire, and Daniel sees someone like a person being led up to heaven before the Almighty, and he is given rulership over all the nations forever. The commentator Rashi explains that this refers to Moshiach and also to the Jewish people.

In other posts on this blog, it was explained how quite possibly the small horn on the fourth beast could be referring to Trump, and how the emergence of Israel as a superpower — not just defeating enemies, but illuminating and showing the world the proper approach and the importance of destroying evil — could be happening in our times.

In chapter 8 of the book of Daniel, one angel asks another, until when will the trampling of holiness  be permitted. The angel answers, it’ll happen at evening morning 2300.

When we add 2300 years to the date that this prophecy was seen by Daniel, we reach the year 1928-1929. That was when it was evening, the beginning of darkness,  when Nazi Germany started to attain power after the stock market crash; when Stalin started to assume power in Russia; and when Arabs perpetrated a pogrom in Hebron, Israel. And that year was also when it was the beginning of light, when Rabbi M. Schneerson married the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe’s daughter, thus allowing for the possibility of his later becoming Rebbe. Since that time the light of the Rebbe has shined throughout the world, dispelling the darkness, as his emissaries continue worldwide to be a light to the nations. Even now dignitaries and common folk, including many non-Jews, have come to visit the Ohel, the resting place of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Donald Trump came after he was miraculously saved from an assassination attempt. Reportedly he told Huckabee to visit the Ohel before he was approved as an ambassador to Israel. And just this past week, on the same day as the shooting in Bondi Beach, Mamdani,  the mayor-elect of New York City, came to the Ohel and prayed there.

In chapter 11 and 12, the final chapters in the book of Daniel, it talks about a king who sounded very much like Napoleon. A king who only cared about himself, who conquered vast swaths of land, and who brought much darkness to the world. He sold land for a pittance, which is what Napoleon did when he sold a third of the United States to the US. Many other details seem to fit in with Napoleon‘s lifestyle and actions. And then one angel asked the other, till when will there be the hiding of the wonders. And the angel gives a time which, as we explained in another post, can possibly refer to 1990 and1991, the years of wonders. The Lubavitcher Rebbe predicted that there would be a year of wonders,  and the following year would be a time  when the Almighty will show us wondrous things. That was when the Soviet Union collapsed peacefully, and when 39 scuds hit Israel and miraculously did not cause casualties, even though there was extensive damage.

Wonders. Amazing miracles. We’re seeing them constantly, including after October 7. We’re seeing a wondrous awakening of the Jewish people to their heritage. We’re seeing a world that is recognizing the importance of being good and kind.

A group of students once came to the to the Rebbe, and asked him if he performs miracles. He answered by explaining what a miracle is. He said that a miracle is the unexpected. And, as I recall reading about it, he told the students that if they will improve their lives and be a positive influence on others and bring more light into the world as a result of this meeting, then that will be a miracle.

The world is now dealing with the unexpected. Radicalism and antisemitism have risen to the surface,  and the world is unexpectedly re-examining itself, asking itself if there’s room for improvement — as the Australian Prime Minister acknowledged a few days after Bondi Beach, ‘I’m not perfect.’

And soon the most unexpected wonderous miracle, the redemption of the Jewish people and indeed of the world with the arrival of Moshiach. One amazing quality about Moshiach is, that he will be exceedingly humble, and he will teach the great scholars and also the simple people.
