Self-Inflicted Suffering

Some people actually believe that Israel put up checkpoints in Judea and Samaria and built the security barrier just in order to oppress the Palestinians and increase their suffering. Israel never wanted to put up checkpoints or build a barrier, but Palestinian terrorists gave them no other choice.

Why hasn’t there been a suicide bombing in Israel for many years? Why do we almost never see Palestinian shooting or bombing attacks inside Israel? Is it because Palestinian terrorists have stopped trying to kill Israelis? No, it’s because of the security barrier and the checkpoints. Palestinian terrorists still try to attack Israel, but find it almost impossible to do so. In fact, a Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader admits that Israel’s security fence is an important obstacle to the terrorist organizations, and that “if it weren’t there, the situation would be entirely different.” http://www.terrorism-info.org.il/en/article/18679

So until Palestinian terrorists stop their attempts, Israel must protect its citizens. Had there been no terrorism, there would have been no checkpoints or no barrier. The Israeli security measures are not creating terrorism like some people believe… these measures were created because of terrorism. And let’s talk about human rights for a moment. What’s the most important right for a human being? The right to LIFE. And Israelis have the right to live and defend themselves against ruthless Palestinian terror that targets innocent women and children.

And do you know what I find sickening? Many people are outraged by the fact that Israel has put up measures to defend themselves against terror. The same people who now criticize Israel for the checkpoints and the barrier were all silent when the second Intifada was at its worst, when dozens of Israelis were killed on a weekly basis.  So I say to those who are outraged by the Israeli security measures: Be angry at the Palestinian terror groups. They are the ones who are responsible for this Palestinian “suffering”. They’re the reason why Palestinians have to wait in line at checkpoints and for the restriction of the movement of Palestinians.

Many people will roll their eyes and tell me: It’s the OCCUPATION, stupid! Really? Terrorism against Israelis happen because of the so called “occupation”? And please explain why 67 Jews were massacred in Hebron in 1929.. If I’m not mistaken there was no “occupation” back then. Arab terrorists don’t need excuses to kill Jews. They kill them only because they are Jews. And they don’t hate Israel because of its policies, but because of its very existence.
