A time for war and a time for peace
One year ago we were vulnerable, divided and wounded but the world loved us
Today we are powerful, united and we’ve pushed back our enemies, but so many around the world detest us
I wouldn’t have it any other way
This past year our lives were upended; our assumptions and beliefs overturned
Our innocence died that morning
We were awaken from our slumber and arose like a roaring lion
Our true friends were revealed over the course of this year
And those that feign to be
Nothing will ever be the same again
Our worldview has permanently changed, even the very course of our lives
Our generation has fought it’s war and continues to
With our grit, chutzpah and determination we crossed the Rubicon
And charted a new course for our people
We will yet have time to mourn and weep over friends and family
But for now we turn northward, southward and eastward
And inward: to heal our rifts, huddle and then leap into a future that will be better than today
“To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven
A time to be born and a time to die
A time to weep and a time to laugh
A time to mourn and a time to dance
A time to love and a time to hate
A time for war and a time for peace” –Ecclesiastes, chap. 3
