Abbas Mourns in Paris…Really?

Why is nobody talking about Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas’s attendance at the Paris rally against terrorism? Or the fact that French President Francois Hollande hugged the PLO leader as he arrived in the French capital?

The fact that Abbas committed the ultimate act of hypocrisy to “mourn” the victims of Islamic terror (yes, the same Islamic terror that Abbas himself promotes and funds at home) is terrible. But the fact that the Western World welcomed this terror-supporting and racist dictator with open arms is pathetic.

As the dictator of the Palestinian Authority (his next election is scheduled for January of 2009), Mahmoud Abbas oversees arguably the most brutal, violent, and racist campaign of incitement this world has seen. Abbas’s PA runs daily cartoons in its media outlets encouraging Palestinians to literally drive over Jews, blow themselves up, or do anything they can to kill civilians. His PA preaches terrorism in schools and mosques, and it recently partnered with a terrorist organization that actively seeks to murder as many non-Muslims as possible (Hamas). Abbas also uses international aid money to pay the families of terrorists sitting in prison.

Abbas’s PA also glorifies terrorists that have committed the most atrocious acts of terror in human history. The PA names schools, streets, summer camps, and more after the terrorists that have killed the most civilians. For example, the PA sports Dalal Mughrabi Square, named after the woman who murdered 12 children and 25 others in the Coastal Road Massacre of 1978; it has a soccer field and convention center named after Salah Khalaf, who played a key role in the Munich Games massacre of the Israeli Olympic team in 1972; it has the “Martyrs of al-Aqsa Intifada” Girls School in the PA city of Qalqilya, honoring the wave of suicide bombers and other terrorists that murdered hundreds of civilians in the al-Aqsa Intifada in the early 2000s. The list goes on…

So given the obvious fact that Abbas’s Palestinian Authority promotes, funds, incites, and glorifies the same murderous acts of terrorism that the world saw too clearly in Paris last week, why aren’t world leaders disgusted by Abbas attending a rally that stands with the victims of the terrorism he so regularly incites? And why did President Hollande invite him to participate?

It’s similar inviting the KKK’s Grand Wizard to march for civil rights next to Martin Luther King Jr.
