Absence Law and Order
“The wrongs which we seek to condemn and punish have been so calculated, so malignant, and so devastating, that civilization cannot tolerate their being ignored, because it cannot serve their being ignored, because it cannot survive their being repeated. That four great nations, flushed with victory and stung with injury, stay the hand of vengeance and voluntarily submit their captive enemies to the judgment of the law is one of the most significant tributes and power ever paid to reason. [Supreme Court Justice Robert Jackson, the American prosecutor at Nuremberg]
From the famed Rabbi Berel Wein, we learn on the subject of hatred, that Maimonides considered humility to be the only acceptable emotion or character trait. “Hatred breeds zealotry and zealotry invites and justifies violence and discord.”
Further, he states,” The completely irrational behavior of much of the American media regarding a duly elected official of the country president borders on the pathologically insane.” Rabbi Wein notes that no president since Abraham Lincoln had been so subjected to rejection and hatred, no matter whatever policies or appointments are created.
Also, in a concise manner, we are informed on the nature of hatred and how to fight this menaces . There are indeed a truth for its eradication. There are lessons and examples from which we can learn. No better example of this than observed in Nazi Germany, and the Soviet Union, and in other totalitarian regimes
The Jewish experience dates back to the time of the great rabbis of the Talmud when they attempted to teach us on the cause of destruction of the Second Temple as being baseless, unwarranted and corrosive hatred. This is a fundamental lesson of Judaism, which, unfortunately has not been learned and followed. “Hatred still haunts many sections of our society and creates problems that easily could be avoided.”
Finally, Rabbi Wein draws attention to the Talmud’s great difference between the students of Hillel and Shamai Despite the difference, it emphasizes the complete lack of hatred that characterized their discussions and disagreements. ” This is meant to be a moral landmark for later generations of the Jewish people.”
On January 8, 2021, The Jewish Press , published Daniel Greenfield’s brilliant Op Ed, “Democrats were for riots before they were against them.” He reminds us of the media’s coverage of 2018 when hundreds of Women’s March members engaged in “direct action” to disrupt the Senate’s Kavanaugh hearings.
Members from among them and other Leftist groups,” blocked hall ways, shouted down Senate members, and draped protest banners from balconies” while Democrats cheered them on. In 2018 the media relished viewing the unsavory behavior of the subject members in “direct action” to disrupt the Senate’s Kavanaugh hearings. Hallways were blocked, members of the Senate were shouted down and visible draped protest banners from balconies encouraged Democrats to cheer them on.
For MSNBC, as the Leftist mob assailed the Supreme Court, pounding on the doors, the less than admirable MSNBC, called it an “extraordinary moment” and praised the crowd, “besieging the Supreme Court and “confronting Senators.
To fully Appreciate Daniel Greenfield’s outstanding and fully comprehensive Op Ed. one must keep in mind that it was published 2 days after the so-called insurrection of the Capital. The Democrats seek to find any means of ensuring the reappearance of a Trump regime will emerge. Any devious efforts will do, any loophole in the law will be flushed out, or created wherever possible. Consider the depth of Greenfield’s investigation and observations. It’s very title speaks volumes.
There was Dem. Maxine Water’s imbecilic remark early on about seeing a member of the Cabinet ” in a restaurant, in a department store, at a gasoline station, you get out and you create a crowd. And you push back on them.”Later, she offered MSNBC, “They are going to absolutely harass them”.
When a BLM mob besieged the White House and battled Secret Service personnel, allegedly forcing the evacuation of President Trump and his family to a bunker, what was the reaction? Democrat House members “took to proposing bills to protect the racist mobs from law enforcement.”
If this was not sufficiently disgusting, Senator Kamala Harris and Biden campaign staffers were busy helping the rioters and looters depart from prison –”along with any other criminals along for the ride.” This as a consequence of a questionable bail fund!
There is a truth which is contrary to the media’s spin.” Republicans have never normalized violence.” Republican political power can be demonstrated as not depending on political terror and violence. “Leftist power invariably does.” Factually, Leftism began a new age of political violence in 2016, and has not demonstrated an interest in bringing it to closure.
In the past, the Democrats and the media had cheered BLM violent protests There was collusion in previous invasions of Congress and the harassment of elected officials. But they needed more to overcome any arguments concerning election questionability.
Peaceful rioting is obviously acceptable. But that was what suited their desire. And so, in shear contempt, DC Attorney General Karl Racine’s response to the BLM assault was to turn the law on its head by condemning law enforcement! The consequence being to issue a false statement accusing President Trump of “–responding to nonviolent demonstration with war-like tactics.”
Daniel Greenfield astutely asks, “Why is broken glass on Capitol Hill so much more precious than the broken glass that ended the dreams of store owners in Kenosha? ” Where indeed, was all the outrage, the tears wept for our country when BLM thugs were prying open shops around the country.”? The looting and muting of America and the assaulting their owners to the extent of up to $2 billion in damages is apparently “chicken feed” to the Democrat billionaires.
What the media elected to dismiss is unquestionably of vital importance. The continuous violence during the summer of 2020 appeared primarily in Democrat controlled cities. According to US law only a mayor or a governor can permit a president to free up the National Guard to restore lawful order. And in every instance except one they refused President Trump’s offer. And in that instance it proved to be extremely successful.
If all this violence is as claimed a reaction to US slavery of 1619-1865, should Jews worldwide rise up in similar fashion as a result of the Holocaust? is one evil superior to another? Of course neither subscribes to recognized civility.
As Candace Owens and other prominent African-Americans have informed us, it is imperative that blacks have inspirational, uplifting, upstanding role models to look up to and emulate, if they wish to change the paradigm and elevate their cultural vision. In the case of whites, what is their demented argument to justify savage behavior?
What ailment besets America’s ally, Israel? As recently as January 16, 2022, JNS published “Amid ongoing political deadlock, is it time for Israel to consider electoral reform” by Josh Hasten. His introductory statement is undoubtedly consequential. He informs us that a recent study showed that two-thirds of the Israeli public believes that the democratic system in Israel is in grave danger. However, irony follows in that a similar proportion consider Israel a good place for living!
Early in his paper Hasten notes a pointed remark from Yoram Ettinger, a former minister for congressional affairs at Israel’s embassy in Washington, an expert on US-Israel relations who informed JNS that Israel’s political system “is a dysfunctional self-destructive system from its inception.”
According to Ettinger, the very idea that the same system can produce different outcomes, ignores reality, so as long as we have the same system, we are going to have similar results with the potential for a 5th, sixth and seventh election within months. After all, this would follow Israel’s torrid system from its inception. Then follows the key to the dilemma.
As a commencement, a better system is needed, one which introduces accountability by members of the Knesset to their constituents. As of now, MK’s are accountable to their party leaders. As such, the existing system disarms voters completely and renders them irrelevant between election campaigns.
Michael Oren, a former Israeli Ambassador to the US and one time MK concurs, explicitly commenting to JNS “that the system is clearly not working.” He also recommends a bicameral house, similar to the US. In fact, he could have added England, Australia, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand.
Josh Hasten is not a lone voice in drawing attention to a major flaw. On April 7, 2019, Times of Israel featured, Dov Lipman’s, “Agenda Item for the next Knesset : Electoral Reform” with an introductory statement, “The average Israeli has no say about who represents them, and that’s not only a shame, it’s a failure in democracy.”
On November 9, 2019, the Jerusalem Post posted Moshe Dann’s “Is Israel a democracy” , who besides also reminding one that MK’s are not accountable to voters, explains why so many Israelis [roughly one third] don’t bother to vote. He draws attention to an excellent analysis of the problem and a plan for comprehensive reform which was proposed by Prof. Paul Eidelberg in his ACPR Policy Paper #79, “Making Votes Count: They Don’t in Israel!” Moshe Dann covers an extensive Israeli history including examples of injustice and corruption in government, originating in Israel’s dysfunctional “democracy.
