Actions Speak Louder Than Words – Why Curtis For NY
- Actions Speak Louder Than Words Why Curtis Is For Jews
Jews in the five boroughs of New York are scrambling in fear to find a solution to the growing popularity of an antisemitic and anti Israel platform in their politics, especially if the recent polls are predicting a Mayor Mamdani.
It is understandable. But last minute planning with little organization and/or professional execution often leads to failure.
I have never been attacked by Jewish influencers who think they are important like I have since Mayor Adams dropped out of the race last week.
Who are these influencers? One is actually a kosher chef, others who have no journalism background and whose names are still unknown outside their bubble of fellow content creators. Another is in fashion and always told me that because of their customers that they couldn’t talk politics.
Facts Being Ignored
- Cuomo lost a primary to Mamdani despite more money, name recognition and endorsements from two former presidents, former governors and former Mayor Mike Bloomberg.
- Cuomo resigned from office in disgrace and gave us Kathy Hochul.
- Cuomo, as Governor, started and bragged about his bail reforms and started the national trend of violence on the streets that are often repeat offenders that Cuomo helped free.
- Cuomo endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.
Most importantly, for Jews:
- Cuomo’s first visit to Israel was in 2014, during a campaign for reelection.
- During COVID, Cuomo’s restrictions targeted Jews, especially religious communities, which eventually led to a lawsuit from the Orthodox advocacy group Agudath Israel of America, which accused Cuomo of discrimination.
- “F—ing tree houses” incident: According to a New York Times report, Cuomo allegedly expressed disdain for Jewish traditions at a 2006 event by complaining about “these people and their f—ing tree houses,” a reference to the temporary shelters used for the fall festival of Sukkot. His spokesperson has denied the comment.
Meeting Curtis Sliwa at a Pro Israel Event
Decades before running for any office or being a radio host and commentator, Curtis Sliwa made headlines for volunteering and leading the Guardian Angels in Crown Heights in 1991.
For years, he joined Israel parades, pro Jewish rallies and spoke in endless programs funded by synagogues and organizations.
He raises his two sons, Hunter and Carter, as practicing Jews!
It was a pleasant surprise to not only meet Curtis, but speak with him in front of the United Nations in 2015 with leaders from Zionist groups opposing the Iran Nuclear Deal.
He stood behind me in Times Square a couple of years later when I was asked to speak at a peaceful protest against Ilhan Omar.
When I chaired the Salute to Israel Day Parade Concert in the Park, he immediately volunteered to bring guardian angels.
There is a video of him mocking Jews, and saying derogatory remarks about other cultural groups. He apologized for it years ago.
Actions speak louder than words! Who has the record of standing with Jews, the answer is obvious.
Don’t Believe Polls
If you believe Curtis Sliwa can not win, did you believe that (and vote for) Hillary Clinton in 2016? Did you ever think President Donald Trump could make the greatest political comeback in history?
If Curtis Sliwa is so incapable of winning, can you explain his campaign finance performance? Unlike Mandami, Curtis raised his money from in-district donors-and more than any opponent. His donors are the grassroots voters who won’t stay home on Election Day. He raised double the amount of dollars in matches from campaign finance in comparison to Andrew Cuomo.
The choice should be clear because both have public records to prove their constituency of actions for and within the Jewish community.
