Active Listening, Seeing and Silence- A Divine Mission Vayera portion of the Torah

Are we ready to receive others into our lives?

Do we make room by taking much less space?

Are we present for circumstances beyond our own?

Do we listen to the music of silence?

Do we leave space between the notes of our words?

To listen fully before we prepare responses?

Do we leave our egos and lose ourselves

To the very stillness of our conscience?

As Abraham is left to the heat of the day

And healing subsequent to his circumcision,

He declines his situation of repose

To greet and prepare for unknown wayfarers.

Abraham loses himself to find others,

Who no longer are others but a part of him.
