Add your voice, we need your light
Exactly 13 years ago, when my third child was born, I used to blog every day. It was therapeutic. I love to write, and I love to type. My brain flow can easily be transcribed onto the keyboard at 90 words per minute. I took a typewriting class in high school in the 90’s, when computers were just using DOS, remember that? My typing prowess got solidified when I worked as a TTY operator. Before cell phones, hard of hearing an deaf people had to rely on our service in order to communicate with the hearing world. Everything from ordering a pizza to talking to a friend. I was just a number, and I would type what a hearing person said and read what a deaf person wrote. It was so much fun, and I loved being the conduit to communication. Maybe that is why I am writing this today, because I love dialogue, and that is what we need, and we need you more than ever.
Yesterday, I wanted to write, but I did not know what I was going to write. Usually, it comes from an inspirational thought or feeling. Now in the middle of a war, my first war, I feel the need to document thoughts flowing freely. I encourage you to do the same. Many people have stayed silent, maybe because they are scared to share, or maybe there are no words. Your voice is important, no more silent majority, please, we need you. There is one truth, and Israel is on the right side of history. I am so grateful for the precision, and always valuing civilians and life. Sadly there have been casualties and many injuries. We are praying and we are so grateful for your prayers all over the world.
So even though I am not sharing anything inspirational or specific, my voice is yearning to release. Maybe your voice will be freeing for you as well. If doing it for me and for the world is not a motivator, maybe do it for your own mental health.
I am so excited to be in this creative space. I just wrote and recorded the spoken word below. It gives me a glimpse into the process of artists, where you just have to make time, space and do it. WOW! I have been fascinated by the process of musicians, writers and artists of all types. This is it. It is about being open to what flows out, and just putting it out there. We need you. Social media and apps make it possible, I just did everything on Canva, it is so user friendly. I am not a technology person, I like to say I am slow to technology. I think because I need to feel that it clicks with me. I love to say that I am married to Facebook, because there we can choose how we express ourselves. Also I am so excited to be connected with friends, family and colleagues from different stages of my life. Find where you can express you. You will feel when it fits. Trust that feeling. Trust yourself.
Be yourself.
Express yourself.
I want to hear YOUR VOICE!
