America is Wasting an Opportunity of a Generation

In 1979, the Iranian Revolution took over the American Embassy, kidnapped and held hostage Americans and held them for two years. This was a beginning of a shadow war that Iran stated openly and America pretended didn’t exist. Iran created proxies around the world, supported the most despotic regimes and kidnapped or murdered Americans at will. Through their proxies and Iranian Revolutionary Guard, Iran would end up being responsible for murder of American peace keeping troops in Beirut, Pakistan and Iraq. The war in Iraq may have been a mistake but the main reason for its failure was the involvement of Iran and it’s incitement of a sectarian war and its open attacks on US troops. Over the years Iran shelled American bases, created the wars in Lebanon and Gaza through its Hamas and Hezbollah proxies which cost the lives of thousands of Israelis and Palestinians. In 2022, Iran became the main supplier of Russia in its war on Ukraine with its drones and ballistic missiles that killed tens of thousands of Ukrainian citizens.

In spite of all that Iran did to America, America continued the policy of pretending like Iran is not at war with America and “talking” to an enemy whose entire goal was our destruction by negotiating one “deal” after another while in reality strengthening their position and attacking America and its allies. Negotiating, placing sanctions, breaking sanctions; it was a policy of cowards. Cowards who were simply too afraid of an open confrontation with a regime whose one motto is “Death to America”.

Iran’s other motto is “Death to Israel” and Israel would respond very differently to Iran. Unlike America, Israel couldn’t have the luxury of pretending like Iran was not at war with Israel. However while America supported Israel in its war with Hamas and Hezbollah, it never allowed Israel to stop the head of the dragon. America was also largely influenced by the Iranian propaganda and as a result also supported Israel just enough to keep Hamas and Hezbollah at bay, but not enough to destroy them. As a result, Israel has been locked in a perpetual war with Iran, surrounded by its proxies in Gaza, Lebanon, Syria and Yemen. This all came to an end with the barbaric act of Oct 7th made to stop the peace treaty between Israel and Saudi Arabia. Israel decided that appeasement to America’s demands was too high of a cost, and in spite of the world outcry to spare the monster, Israel went after Hamas, then Hezbollah, Syria and finally, on June 16th, it went after the head of the dragon. In an operation that simply boggles the mind in its complexity and audacity, Israel managed to destroy the entire leadership of the country and all of its air defenses. The dragon had no wings, and lay on its back spurting fire balls that rained down on Israeli cities. But the heart of the dragon still beat, deep inside the mountain. Israel called on America to step out of the fog of cowardice and help Israel with its B2 bombers to end the nuclear threat to Israel, America and the rest of the world with one strike.

Seeing an opportunity for a cheap win, Donald Trump was prepared to take the step. The skies were cleared by Israel. The win was certain, but the cowards in America were still there. Blinded by their fear of Iran, even with the dragon lying down, powerless to get up, they still feared the “regional war”, being “pulled” into the war, and so with one empty warning from Putin, just like that, we had a TACO moment; Trump chickened out.

This is that moment that the world wishes it had in 1939. This is the number one dream for a time machine. Anyone who is asked what would you do, the answer is almost always the same: “go back and kill Hitler”. Well here we have it, we have Iran on their knees, Russia unable to help, China with angry words but incapable of fighting wars will not step in. All we need is a flight of a bird, drop its ordinance and the world is safe. But America is at a standstill, the crowds beg to keep a dictator in his place, to allow the Ayatolah to keep his nuclear program, to allow him to butcher Iranians who dare to speak up, to murder and rape women for any act of “immodesty”, to continue to freely kidnap, attack and murder Americans.

America has a proud history of bravery. But the current generations are shaped by failure. Failure in Vietnam, Iran, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Iraq. So shaped by failure that they would rather retreat into their shell like a turtle and pretend that the evil out there can be ignored. America has a moment to take a safe step to end this. The least risky act for America to be a hero that has ever existed. America and Trump have one chance, take it or regret it. After 9/11, America cannot take the chance of wishful thinking that an enemy that is thousands of miles is not a threat. Americans must stop Iran now or we will forever wish we had a time machine where we could go back and do what our fathers couldn’t.
