An American style putsch
July 22, 2024- This past Sunday was a historical day in American history. A wonderful president who gave his life and soul to the American experiment, and withdrew from the presidential race for the good of the country.
Politicians galore wrote words of praise and tribute to this great man. Everyone supported the next candidate who this great man endorsed. The Vice President is certainly well qualified to step into the shoes of the president and to chart her own course. She is a woman of integrity.
The nation may have gone to bed happy on Sunday night, but the truth is an American Putsch was committed and the masses were blindsided. One just has to examine how we reached this point on that momentous day. It was shameful.
The Republicans have clearly set themselves up as the party of the violent coup. They supported January 6th. They have already disbanded the constitution, and they are blindly supporting a presidential candidate who is committed to no one, not even this country. They are locking step with an unstable authoritarian person.
During the past eight years, the Democrats seemed to align themselves with the law and with the Constitution. They spoke eloquently in the Halls of Congress and in the media. They were statesmen, be they Jefferies, Raskin, Schiff, Pelosi and so many others. They provided hope. They had integrity. They seemed to have class.
Then came the debate of June 27, 2024. The President faltered, no doubt. He does have some cognitive deficits, no doubt. What did his political allies and so-called friends do?
They called openly for his demise. Sometimes they spoke from both sides of their mouths, but they destroyed him and the Democratic Party’s hope of winning in November.
Make no mistake. This was a Putsch. A violent Putsch. Words from the so-called noble statesmen were so violent that they pushed this man out of contention. Once they pushed him out, they came back not to bury him, but to praise him. How disgusting.
I am not saying the President should have stepped down, nor am I saying the Vice President is not qualified for office.
What I am saying is that Sunday was a very dark day in our country’s history. A Putsch was committed. Not your beer hall putsch, for there are no beer halls inside the beltway, but a uniquely American putsch. Where words are just as violent as weapons.
At this point I have come to bury America. There are no more praises to give. The Republicans, and now the Democrats, have destroyed her.
