An open letter to President Trump

Dear President Trump,

You yourself have been highly critical and correctly so, of the previous failed attempts to appease Iran. Unfortunately, it appears that the proposed memorandum of understanding between your administration and Iran is yet another attempt at appeasing a regime that you, yourself have described as “evil” multiple times. There is every reason to believe that this attempt at appeasement will end as all others have – with a stronger Iran and a diminished United States. It is particularly distressing that less than a century after defeating Nazi Germany and Imperial Japan, the United States, which appeared a few weeks ago to be at the brink of victory, finds itself at such a nadir as the nation’s 250 birthday rapidly approaches.

Furthermore, your recent condemnations of Israel’s defensive actions in Lebanon will only serve to allow Hezbollah and the Islamic Republic’s other terror proxies to recover from the pounding they took from Israel in the aftermath of October 7.  These proxies, who will be flush with cash due to the agreement with Iran will only be emboldened to continue to use terror as their tool of choice in their attempt to defeat not only the Middle East’s one democracy, Israel, but the West as well.

Mr. President, do not make the mistake of administrations of both parties who failed to learn the lessons of history and errantly chose to respond to aggression with appeasement. Return to your previous position of resolute opposition to radical theocrats who govern Iran with an Iran fist. Your legacy hangs in the balance.
