An optimistic view of the world

It’s hard to keep track of what is happening. And it’s hard to figure out where it’s all heading. But there is reason to be optimistic.

Let’s start with Israel. Living hostages have been freed. Some bodies are still not returned. Hamas didn’t disarm yet. On the one hand, the release of the hostages was a stunning development. On the other hand, what will happen? If Hamas doesn’t disarm, they will retain power. But if this prevents international forces from entering Gaza, it may be a good thing, as it would allow Israel to have more freedom to operate.

New York. Mamdani seems to be headed to victory. Some say that if he wins, it will harm the Democrats in the mid-terms, because moderate Democrats don’t want socialism.

Russia. Trump imposed sanctions on anyone who deals with Russian oil. Will India and China stop buying Russian oil? Meanwhile, Russia tested a new kind of nuclear missile which can stay aloft for a long time, and which they claim is difficult to defend against. But maybe if the sanctions stop the purchasing of Russian oil, it might persuade Putin to stop the war in Ukraine.

Trump is meeting China’s leader this week. There are indications that they are close to reaching a trade deal. Probably China’s purchasing of Russian oil will be discussed.

Trump is attacking drug boats near South America. Some analysts think that the main targets are the dictators of Columbia and Venezuela.

Pakistan has outlawed a terrorist party. The U.S. is trying to resolve hostility between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Trump has leveraged economic muscle to broker peace between a number of countries.

There are so many unknowns about so many issues. But the trend seems to be positive.

G-d is miraculously protecting Israel, as all its enemies have been stunningly defeated. As we see these miracles, it boosts our confidence that also in the bigger world, there will be peace and harmony.

And it bolsters our confidence and optimism, that the complete Redemption with Moshiach is very close.
