Anticipation and resilience: Strategic patience and why we need to learn it
I had two visitors from Israel this week – both incredibly busy, accomplished professionals who have spent their careers focused on critical security issues and the future of Israel and the region. I felt fortunate to have them here, though I kept checking in, certain they would cancel their flights given the news. It’s easy to assume everyone is either stockpiling or stranded abroad. Yet, despite the anxiety and looming threats, some believe in continuing life as usual—and they practice what they preach.
We live in a time that demands holding conflicting truths: how do we continue to live proudly as Israelis and Jews, staying aware of our surroundings and threats while planning for both the short and long term? How can we learn from those who seek to harm us and use that understanding to build a robust antisemitism strategy? Innovation in combating antisemitism isn’t just about technology; it’s about bringing new questions and frameworks to a space that needs revitalization—and that is part of what I talked about with Dan Ganor today, an Israeli intelligence analyst with expertise in counter-terrorism, geopolitics, and cybersecurity, who is now applying his skills to combating antisemitism.
