Apart from Apartheid…
APARTHEID.
It’s a word we hear bandied about a lot these days. But not in reference to the racially segregated and oppressive South Africa of the past. No. These days, people use it in reference to Israel. Israel. The democratic, free and equal society whose stance on human rights more closely mimics America than just about any other nation on earth.
From Israel’s Proclamation of Independence, May 14, 1948:
The State of Israel will be open for Jewish immigration and for the Ingathering of the Exiles; it will foster the development of the country for the benefit of all its inhabitants; it will be based on freedom, justice and peace as envisaged by the prophets of Israel; it will ensure complete equality of social and political rights to all its inhabitants irrespective of religion, race or sex; it will guarantee freedom of religion, conscience, language, education and culture; it will safeguard the Holy Places of all religions; and it will be faithful to the principles of the Charter of the United Nations.
But we’ve all heard the allegations of Apartheid. They’re everywhere! So they must be true!
Right.
The Apartheid Lie is what my Grandfather (God bless his soul, and you should excuse his French) would have delicately called “b.s. and bombast.” But he used a much more colorful term than “b.s.”.
This astounding and completely unfounded lie was brought to you by the masterminds who also brought you such greatest hits as ISIS, Hamas, Al-Qaida, and Hezbollah.
If you bought it, buy it, or even consider it, welcome to the uninformed, misinformed, or even worse–ignorant and anti-Semitic–proletariat sucked in by the purely evil Radical Muslim propaganda machine.
Here’s the truth about Apartheid.
Apartheid was the South African regime that separated and subjugated its Black population as second-class citizens. They were stripped of their social and civil rights and generally denigrated as human beings.
If you think this reality in any way mirrors that of Israel, you have clearly never been to Israel.
In Israel–the world’s only Jewish state–there is a 20% Arab population.
And how are they treated? As equal citizens with equal rights.
There is no segregation, there are equal rights for all, everyone can vote and worship how they choose, there are no second-class citizens.
In fact, despite the relentless historical Arab aggression against Israel, Arabs still serve at high levels in all three branches of government–Executive, Judicial, and Legislative.
Oh…but then, of course there’s the “Apartheid Wall” separating the Israeli capital of Jerusalem from Palestinian-controlled East Jerusalem. Clearly, this is a sign of Israel’s oppressive Apartheid policies.
REALLY????
First of all, the “Apartheid Wall” is mostly just a fence (95%, in fact, is fence. 5% is wall). And it was created in response to the non-stop terror flooding in daily to Israel from the Palestinian territories. It has nothing to do with Apartheid. It is a security barrier, which, by the way, cut down on Palestinians terror attacks on Israel by more than 95%.
Second, Apartheid is a term that refers to a nation segregating and suppressing the rights of a certain segment of its own population. THE PALESTINIANS OF THE WEST BANK AND GAZA STRIP ARE NOT ISRAELI CITIZENS. You cannot create an Apartheid system against another state. The West Bank (and Gaza Strip) are controlled and fully governed by their own Palestinian leadership.
Is it Apartheid when the good old US of A creates a separation barrier between itself and Mexico? Malaysia has one with Thailand. The Catholics and Protestants have “Peace Walls” in Northern Ireland. Oh, what about Egypt and its separation barrier with Gaza? Is that Apartheid? Gaza…we’re talking poor, oppressed Palestinians here…Who’s accusing Egypt of Apartheid???
You want to talk Apartheid?
How about the fact that 20% of Israel is Arab–that’s about 1,700,000 people–and yet the Palestinian Authority won’t approve housing for a single Jew in the disputed West Bank (also known as Judea and Samaria…the very birthplace of Judaism)?
Hmmm…sounds a lot like Apartheid to me…
