Apartheid…not really
Israel is often, wrongly, accused of being “an apartheid state”. The definition of apartheid is:” racial segregation; specifically : a former policy of segregation and political and economic discrimination against non-European groups in the Republic of South Africa”.
In South Africa, blacks were not allowed the right to work, get an education, or hold public office. In Israel, non Jews are allowed to work, get and education and hold public office.
In South Africa, blacks were forced to live in “shantytowns” that were nothing more than slums. In Israel, Non Jews are allowed to live where they wish.
In South Africa, if you stood up for your rights and you were black, you could be arrested or killed. In Israel, as we have seen, you can be a member of the Knesset and praise Hamas and you keep your job.
In South Africa, blacks were treated as slaves. In Israel, non Jews have full rights as citizens of Israel.
Israel is not an apartheid state, not by a long shot. Those people who suffered and died under apartheid in South Africa deserve so much more than this..much more than for Anti Zionists to hijack the term. It is really a slap in the face to every person who suffered under apartheid. And it is a slap in the face to the Palestinians. If you want to help the Palestinians, help the peace process. Don’t go around shouting “Apartheid” without any idea how horrific it REALLY was.
