Ari Fuld Is Why Trump Matters

As Yom Kippur fasts go, yesterday’s wasn’t unique. I prayed in the 6:10 a.m. minyan that finishes before noon, and rested for the extended break. That extra rest helps me complete the day on my feet, as I’m prone to headaches when I fast. Before Neila began, Rabbi Shapiro spoke of Ari Fuld’s heroism, and I cried. It wasn’t the first time I had cried yesterday for Ari Fuld, a man I never met. I cried for his wife and children, and begged our Heavenly Father to ease their pain more than once during the day as I wondered how I could still be here and a man like Ari Fuld is not.

Prayer is intensely personal and an essential component of what binds us as a Nation, and one of the few things we in America can do for the Fuld’s.  We can also donate money to the family, as Ari was the family’s sole bread winner.  Please visit the Fuld’s GoFundMe page to donate.  After all, is it fair on any level that Ari’s family should worry about money while the cowardly and gutless animal that murdered him isn’t?

There’s something else we can do, and it’s just as important.  We can vote for our politicians to represent the best interests of Israel, and we can support them during their tenure.  In light of Ari’s murder, it has never been more important to do so.

If Ari had been murdered during the Obama administration, it’s likely that his murder would have gone largely ignored.  Obama’s rabid anti-Israel platform, rooted in the antisemitism he was weaned on by Jeremiah Wright, was most evident not when he signed JCPOA, but in his last days as a sitting duck.  Not that JCPOA wasn’t bad enough.  It essentially handed Israel on a silver platter to Iran, whose dreams of stockpiling nuclear weapons a stone’s throw from Jerusalem reached a fever pitch as pallets of American cash earmarked for terrorism landed in private jets because no bank would play ball with Obama.  Even as they mobilized in Syria and funded wholesale terror with Jewish blood on their hands, Obama was dealing.  But no, that wasn’t the worst.

Obama exited office with a final betrayal of Israel with a disgraceful act by the most virulently anti-Israel president in American history.  Resolution 2334, a reversal of decades of American policy, was crafted and promoted by Obama, and called for a complete cessation of building on Israeli land identified as settlements.  It was the first anti-settlement resolution to pass the Security Council since Carter was in office.  It was offensive on so many levels as it defied decades of settled U.S. foreign policy, both regarding Israel and the Middle East.  Here’s an indication of how hellbent Obama was in degrading Israel and her sovereignty –  2334 declared that the Western Wall is occupied Palestinian territory and that Jews living in the Jewish quarter of Jerusalem are residing there illegally.

Fortunately, Obama is no longer president, and Donald Trump is.  If I didn’t know better, I’d say that while Obama played the Haman with Iran’s Achashveirosh, God was watching.

Unlike his predecessor, Trump’s administration immediately condemned Fuld’s murder. The Trump administration, through Nikki Haley and David Friedman, have not only condemned the murder of Ari Fuld, but have noted that his murderer will receive up to 1.7 million dollars for his cowardly act, and they aren’t going to be a party to such obscene hypocrisy.

This is why I voted for Donald Trump – because cowards and antisemites like Barack Obama suborn the murder of innocent Jews by funding the Palestinian Authority.  Donald Trump has cut funding to the PA.  The White House recently stated it “commends the Congress for including the Taylor Force Act, which prohibits most U.S. foreign assistance that directly benefits the Palestinian Authority until the PA ends the abhorrent practice of providing payments to terrorists and their families in reward for acts of violence.”

This is why I voted for Donald Trump.  This is why I support this administration’s decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem.   This is why I support this administration’s decision to close the PLO mission in Washington.  This is why I support ending the funding of the United Nation’s Palestinian mission and UNRWA.  We need to stop treating Palestinians like partners in peace while they act like enemies.

As long as the PA rewards their citizenry for murdering innocent Jews, as long as a 16 year old animal can be brainwashed with UN funds and then stab a father of 4 in the back while out shopping and then get paid for it, there will be no peace anyway.  And there should be no peace, and we need to stop deluding ourselves with notions of good faith on both sides.  The UN has always been an anti-Israel, anti-Semitic institution.  Their record of this is obvious.  What the United States has always done is to stand with Israel against its enemies.  Obama embraced Israel’s enemies, and you have to blind and dumb to not see the divine intervention of Trump’s win as it relates to Israel, and how Trump has walked back the rank hatred Obama not only displayed, but acted on.  I took comfort yesterday in knowing that while Ari Fuld is gone, his murder will not be ignored and marginalized by the country of his birth.
