Since 2014, Heather Cathleen Cox has been a vocal advocate for Israel. With a professional
background in journalism and photojournalism, she has written for a variety of print and digital
publications, with bylines in US-based periodicals as well as the Jerusalem Post, Yahoo! News, and Newsbreak. She currently writes a weekly blog for The Times of Israel. Her creative
nonfiction story, “Becoming Esther” was published in the award winning anthology, Beyond
Boundaries: Tales of Transcendence. On October 7, 2023, Heather was in Jerusalem, working
on a full-length nonfiction project when her life changed forever. Since then, she has
volunteered in Israel by leading prayers and meditations, hospitality services, harvesting
produce, and volunteering with Israeli-led groups like Masa, Birthright Onward, and the National
Organization for Victims of Terror (NOVT)--where she serves as the Project Manager for
NOVT’s campaign: Bar and Bat Mitzvahs for orphans of October 7. An artist and singer-
songwriter, she is a native-Texan who began visiting Israel in 2016. Now, she strategically
spends her time somewhere between Texas and Israel, but her heart is always in Jerusalem.
