Baruch Marzel, the Most Defamed Hebron Resident

Baruch Marzel is perhaps the most defamed Jewish Hebron resident than any other with many critics calling him a radical racist Jewish settler.

Marzel is one of the active Jewish activists for the State of Israel and an activist for the protection of Jews.

Having lived in the Hebron area for three years now, I have seen first hand how he opens up his home to soldiers every Shabbat feeding them food he out does himself by cooking an enormous amount of food a personally bringing heavy pots and pans to bases both up and down hill.

He has spoken to many groups I have brought to speak to him both Israeli and American groups where he talks about what it is like to live in Hebron and the importance of the Jewish connection to the city.

Baruch Marzel served honorably during the First Lebanon War risking his life in a tank to protect the citizens of Israel

He moved to Hebron in 1980 and lived in a trailer with no electricity and running water while being shot at by terrorists where his home is marked with bullet holes from his attempted murder.

Today I was extremely surprised to find on the Wikipedia Tel Rumedia page that Baruch supposedly murdered someone called  Ibraham Khader Idries in 1995 in cold blood in Tel Rumeida.

Baruch has been in and out of prison since his teens and has a police record incredibly long and is well known by law enforcement.

I don’t know how it would be possible for someone who has a record with the police the ability to get permission to get a gun in Israel.

Baruch doesn’t own a gun nor does he have permission to have one so I don’t know how even in 1995 when guns laws were even stricter in Israel than they are today that he would have one to shoot someone.

Even if he did shoot someone he would have done it in self defense since many of his Arab neighbors even shot at his home.

I looked up the link on Wikipedia to the link of a book called ” In Harm’s way: A History of Christian Peacemakers”  and a link on Al-Jazeera that states, ” Israel wants an ethnically pure state”.

The Al-Jazeera article cited by Wikipedia by Khalid Amayreh writes, ” As a result, Marzel and his friends, such as Baruch Goldstein, the perpetrator of the Hebron massacre in 1994, is trying to expedite the coming of the Redeemer. His means to do that is violence and terror against Palestinian civilians, including his own neighbors, the Abu Haikal family – a continuous target of his harassment. A few years ago, he shot and killed a 15-year-Palestinian boy, Ibrahim Idris, who was visiting from Amman. Marzel claimed the boy threw a stone at him and he had to defend himself (Amayreh 2003).”

There is no evidence at all linking Baruch Marzel to the Hebron Massacre in 1994 because he has so many enemies in the government if that was the case he would be in jail for life right now.

He supposedly Harasses the Abu Haikal family when would he find the time when he is busy traveling the country to get people to vote for his political party, cooking food for soldiers, fundraising for schools and running the Beitar house. When would he have time to harass a family?

Amayreh writes he killed Ibrahim Idries after he threw rocks, the Christian Peacemakers say that he was armed with a knife.

A knife or a stone both have the ability to kill someone and would have been justified in defending himself if it happened. I seriously doubt this incident even happened at all because a simple google search with the term ” Ibrahim Idries killed by Baruch Marzel” doesn’t show up at all.

This whole story is fake because Baruch Marzel never had a gun in his possession with his extensive large criminal record nor is he a rabbi as stated in Amayreh’s article.

Most likely Amayreh was told this by a Palestinian or a second source without doing his due diligence and took the story as true without even checking his sources because since a Palestinian said so it must be true.

Visiting left wing people are lied to continually by Palestinians when visiting Hebron, a year ago, Tzipi Shlessel was walking down the street and documenting a left wing tour group when the Palestinian tour guide called her Anat Cohen saying, ” this is Anat Cohen the most violent settler in Hebron.”

Another time I was walking on Shabbat in Hebron and another Palestinian tour guide pointed to me and said I raid his house every night.

I am a security guard for tours and I have in my possession a pistol and a rifle which everyone sees me walking with every day.

I have never had to use my guns in self defense, have only shot them on the range and will most likely never have to shot them outside of a range.

I can not join military operations with soldiers in Hebron with my guns and raid peoples’ homes because I feel like it because only soldiers can do that and Jewish Israelis are not even allowed in area A.

Yet, left wing tourists are not told the truth and they will just take the guides word as truth without even looking into what he says to even verify to see if what he says is true.

Everyone is welcome to disagree with Baruch Marzel and not agree with his politics or approach.

There is no reason to defame him when he does so much good in Israel by raising money for schools, taking his time out of his busy schedule to talk to Jews and non-Jews alike about Hebron encouraging more people to visit Hebron, cooking food for soldiers and opening his home for people.

Just because someone is in the complete opposite direction from you on the political spectrum doesn’t mean you have to defame that person.
