Behaalotecha: The Uni in Uniqueness

Unified Flames on the Menorah - Grok XAI

We all love revolutionary ideas, but the truth is that there is nothing new under the sun. We can only come into new understandings of the existing. Technology is just a result of the information gathered over time and the use of its execution. Once we have already successfully understood the mechanics of the flow of positive and negative energy in the universe, for example, in every conversation we have there is the give and the take. Now that this is tried, tested, and proven, we can apply this dynamic to the next step in evolution.

So too the concept of generation. We see how every single thing that has meaning, for example, food, has a built-in regeneration within it. This comes the question, “If water and fire have meaning, where is the seed lying within them and what kind of generation can be deduced from them?” People churn out generations, since undeniably, we are the most meaningful creations here on earth. We have seed within us to regenerate, and we are required to find the opposite flow of energy in order to execute this generation into reality.

Combining two forces that are undoubtedly true in their personal character brings about the birth of something new. So the more information of the sciences we possess, the more births we are essentially able to produce. This is the simple idea of evolution, and though it may be new information to you at this moment, in reality this is common knowledge for anyone who has gotten this far in their intellectual dialogue. There are so many other wisdoms that you and I have yet to discover, not because they aren’t out there. It is simply because we haven’t focused our mind on seeing them. Take medicine for example. If you are a chemist or psychiatric doctor, you’ve probably gone much deeper into that realm than the simple nurse in the emergency room. But if interest peaks for that nurse, he or she will inevitably share knowledge with their predecessors in this space and realm.“

So if we share the same knowledge with all other doctors, how can there be a better and worse doctor? Aren’t they all competing in the same league?” The answer is that each of those doctors has other subjects playing around in their mind at the same time as their doctorate studies. Some have their marriage on their hearts, some their finances, some their children, and ironically some have their health to worry about. Some may have a passion for fly fishing or camping, and those subjects are on their minds. The combination each individual doctor forms in their own unique mind will lead them to see breakthroughs others simply cannot. This is not because the others don’t have the capacity for it, rather, they have not the eyes to see as dynamically as the other. Not to diminish or raise one over the other, each one will have their skillset of uniqueness.

But there is something of even more importance in this dichotomy. It is the level of passion each one of them possesses for the subject of being this specialty doctor. While one may give their complete dedication to their studies and its application, the other may learn the same exact texts and operations, but their passion lies elsewhere. Even two identical people who have the exact same life to a degree that they see each other every single day in every single situation, and they both have the same exact things on their mind, and the universe has sent them the same struggles and thoughts to deal with, one may be passionate about their doctorate while the other is passionate about camping. And since they differ in this area, one will become renowned for their expertise, passion, and exceptionalism in their craft, while the other may remain an understudy for the rest of their life.

Every experience that you go through in life is a subject that is uniquely yours. I’ve heard of people who would be great accountants, but the answer to their lack of pursuit is, “There are so many accountants out there. The world doesn’t need another one!” What kind of attitude is this, not to pursue a passion because somebody else has the same passion? The world is big enough and there are enough clients for the both of you! The same way you look at yourself sitting in traffic, you don’t say, “I don’t have to sit here since there are five hundred other cars already doing it!” This is a fact of life. If you have to get somewhere, you have to go through that road.

But it goes even further. Since you have unique experiences, you were gifted with a special lens to see your trade through the eyes of your experiences. If you have dealt with loss in your life, you will find ways to guide your clients in your specific direction that you find valuable. You will be able to explain to them that there are ways to prepare beforehand so that the struggle of loss doesn’t hit them as hard as it hit you. If you struggled with overcoming addiction, you are now an accountant blended with this information. This is uniquely yours, and this will bring about its own unique success. The clients coming to you will be of the kind that you attract, not just because you are good at clicking numbers and learning the new yearly millions of tax-code changes. They will swear by you since you and they share a common subject. Just as you would connect with fellow accountants, you will connect with those who are intimately connected to the other subjects you are well versed in.

This is the concept of generation. This is the seed you are bringing forth into the world as you combine two powers. Now imagine if you have five or ten subjects that you are fluent at, and you merge them successfully into one brand and practice. The attraction of all kinds of people will flock to your expertise since you know how to talk to them and provide them with a service that you and only you can uniquely provide, whilst making them feel like they are the only one on your mind. This is the dynamic of one who births generations.

But there must be a passion driving this man from behind. The flame has to be rising on its own accord. This kind of creation needs a force beyond nature to actively fuel and flame this never-stopping train. Otherwise this person may be one of many ideas and wonderful thoughts, but without thanking Hashem for giving them each one of those experiences and then harnessing them into a service, this flame will ultimately burn out. We need the western flame to keep burning consistently, and that asks for true passion to be lit and sustained.

Numbers 8:2: “Behaalotecha Et Haneirot.” Rashi notes, “Hold the flame near the candle until the flame rises on its own.” Our goal is to take two wicks and pair them together so that the flame can rise and burn on its own. “El Mul P’nei Hamenorah Ya’iru Et Shiv’at Haneirot,” as the Gemara in Menachot 98b quotes, “All candles formed a connection and unified towards the middle flame.” This is how all subjects come together to light up one magnificent light. Those individual candles don’t complain that there is no need for them since there are others lit beside them. To the contrary, it is their unification that births a light that illuminates the world around them and brings forth an abundance of enlightenment and clarity. So, there are no new thoughts in this world, but the combination of many made this article unique!
