Channel 13 news today showed Benny Gantz and Bibi Netanyahu almost head to head in the election predictions. Another poll showed Benny leading by 4 or 5 seats.
The numbers themselves don’t tell the real story. Maybe it’s “fake news”? But in the last round prior to Tuesday’s election, Netanyahu is frightened and is calling on his Likud people frantically urging them to get out and vote
We have never seen Netanyahu sweat so much. He realizes finally that his Likud party may not be the winner. And if not, what will become of him?
Regrettably, Israel has never put a time limit on the amount of years a prime-minister can be re-elected. Bibi has served for ten years. If he wins this election (I pray to God not) he will have served at term’s end 13 or 14 years. Like Turkey’s Erdogan, Bibi does not want to surrender the reins of power !
Democracy in Israel has been turned into autocracy. While the power should remain in the hands of members of the Knesset, Bibi has had a magical way of persuading them to follow his path and to approve his decisions. The common folk have no voice. In Israel, unlike other countries, we vote for a political party rather than for a particular candidate. Voters have no means of communicating with elected officials. We have no House of Representatives or Senate to whom we can relay our position, opposition, request for help in personal matters, etc
Israel has never been and never can be an America! Until Bibi made his terrible racist remark that “Israel is the nation state of the Jewish people ONLY”, Jews and non-Jews were considered equal citizens. With Bibi’s rotten nation-state law, Muslims, Christians, Druze and Circassions became second-class citizens of a Jewish state.
Many of them, in particular our Druze and Circassion male citizens, enlist in our army and serve loyally and faithfully to protect the state in which they live, even spilling their blood in the defense of the Jews.
But blind-folded Bibi has taken away from them that which they prized: full & equal Israeli citizenship.
There is absolutely no doubt that he will eventually be indicted for his crimes after a hearing and if he is found guilty he will be given a prison sentence like a former President and Prime-Minister before him.
We have one law for all people, high-born or low-born. Each stands equal in the courts of justice.
Benny Gantz is a newcomer to the world of politics. No matter. Every politician has to begin somewhere. I have confidence that if his party is the elected majority he will succeed. Yes, he (like Bibi and others) will make occasional mistakes. But they will not be mistakes which harm the freedom and security of our country. There will be no corruption, no graft, no bribery, no fraud under a new leader of our nation.
I do not put my trust in the polls. My trust is in Almighty God and the mighty decent citizens of Israel.
I pray that the turn-out at polling stations will be over-whelming and I will not sleep on the night of the 9th. I will remain awake, glued to my television, awaiting the final count and the declared winner.
Hopefully following the awaited announcement, I sincerely hope and pray that our esteemed President Reuven Rivlin will follow his conscience and make the right decision for us.
It is a matter of only one question. Do we want an indicted criminal to be our prime-minister? There is no neutrality. It is either YES or NO.
What will be your answer?
