Blast of the Land’s Call
ON SHIPS! BY FOOT! THE DRUM SOUNDED
TO CROSS THE MOUNTAINS, TO SAIL THE SEAS, TO BATTLE FIRE AND ALL, TO THE LAND OUR SOULS BE BOUND!
“RETURN HOME, MY LOVE!” WAILED THE LAND!
“RETURN TO ME, MY SOUL”, THUS SHE SOUNDED THE COMMAND.
In the broken-down, poverty stricken homes of the shtetl, in the Holy filled rooms of the shuls, in the Eastern European modern schools, in the blood-soaked villages after a night of pogroms
there the Blast of the Land’s Call
penetrated their young souls.
“For Home, I, over broken glass, burning sand, and everything and all I shall crawl.” Responded the young and old.
The TIME IS UPON US TO FULFILL OUR OATH.
“IF I FORGET THEE O’JERUSALEM ” RE-PLEDGED THE JEWISH HEART AND SOUL, BOTH!
The Exile of 2000 years, the separation of endless moons, the love sickness of shattered eternity had come to an end.
And one by one, two by two, ten by ten, fifty by fifty, hundred by hundred, a thousand by a thousand
came teens, singles, wife and husband.
Pitach Tikvah – the Entrance of Hope, Rishon LaTzion – the First Fruits to Zion, Zichron Yaacov – In Memory of Jacob .
in front of their eyes were marshes, swamps, burning desert and Arab guns.
But their Jewish hearts and souls were on fire AND NOTHING COULD STOP THEIR LOVE, no amount of opposition or gunfire.
SEVENTY YEARS would pass
these young dreamers had turned desert to grass
and on this day of 14 of May
their sons and daughters would fight and TELL ALL,FOREVER THE EXILE HAS STOPPED AND WE, JEWS, HAVE RETURNED TO ETERNALLY STAY ONCE AND FOR ALL!
