Blueprint of Creation
The Midrash Raba on the very first verse of the Torah, describes how Hashem created the world. The analogy is made between an architect making plans to build a building.
Hashem’s blueprint for creation came from the Torah itself. He used its wisdom as His guide. Everything is contained in the Torah.
The letters were the building blocks of creation. Betzalel built the Mishkan with these same letters of creation. This is a very lofty idea to say that the letters were used for creation.
This explains why the concept of actual creation is not revealed to all. It is the part of the Torah known as “סוד,” where the deepest secrets of the Torah are treated with great care.
The Talmud connects the last verse of Kohelet to the purpose of creation. “When all is said and done, fear Hashem and keep the commandments for this is all there is to man.”
When it says “all there is to man,” it means that man’s existence depends on Torah study and good deeds. This is how he rises above the animal.
Rav Chaim of Volozhin once said that if the world would be without Torah for a single moment, where no Jew was studying Torah anywhere in the world, all creation would turn into nothingness.
This is also the explanation why only the sixth day of creation has the letter “ה” in front of it. ( השישי instead of שישי.) This refers to the sixth day of Sivan when the Torah was given.
This also teaches that Torah is the anchor of the world. Without Torah, the blueprint for creation, the world could not exist. We must cleave to its teachings, and with G-d’s help we will study it and live according to its principles.
