Brazil: Zimerman and Kramer Speak at CIP on Jewish Identity
The Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP) will hold, on Saturday, October 17, at 7 p.m., a special dialogue featuring Rafael Zimerman, a Brazilian survivor of the October 7, 2023 terrorist attacks in Israel, and Noam Kramer, psychologist and researcher with the Diaspora, Racism, and Antisemitism Dialogues group at Labô/FUNDASP. The event will explore themes of new beginnings, resilience, Jewish identity, and the challenges faced by the Jewish community today.
Organized by CIP in partnership with NCEJ and StandWithUs Brasil, the gathering will bring together diverse experiences and perspectives on what it means to be Jewish in the present day, the importance of community belonging, and ways to confront adversity.
Rafael Zimerman, who survived the Hamas attack during the Nova Festival in Israel, is a lecturer and educational analyst at StandWithUs Brasil. Alongside him, Noam Kramer will contribute insights from his work as a psychologist and researcher.
The initiative aims to create a space for dialogue and exchange of experiences, where stories of resilience and reflections on identity and belonging can inspire the audience and reinforce the importance of community ties.
The event is free of charge, with registration available at https://cip.org.br/dialogos, and will include interpretation in Brazilian Sign Language (Libras).
The “Diálogos – CIP Meeting Series” is an initiative of the Congregação Israelita Paulista (CIP), supported by the Ministry of Culture through the Rouanet Law for Cultural Incentives, and sponsored by Itaú, Bemol, Rosset, Banco Safra, Tricostyl, Smart Storage, and Aurora.
