Caely-Jo Levy is a singer, songwriter, actress and choreographer based in Cape Town South Africa. She discovered a passion for Klezmer music after being asked to sing at the Yiddish Song Festival. This lead to her not only founding her own band “Yid Dish,” but even to spend time studying at the world famous YIVO institute for Jewish Research in New York.

We caught up with Caely-Jo and chatted about her acting, tour guiding, Yiddish song favourites  and a collaboration combing the clicks of Xhosa with Kletzmer. Caely-Jo also talks about her support for an upcoming concert for Waiting in the Wings SA, a group that was started during the lock-down to help artists affected by the Corona pandemic.
