Canadian Jews At Risk, Not Colorful Government Heritage Props
Our Canadian government has recently announced the termination of the programs for the Envoy on Antisemitism and Holocaust Remembrance and Envoy on Islamophobia. Jewish organizations have been urging the government to prioritize antisemitism as Jews remain at risk in Canada.
The adoption of a Liberal government selected equity based ‘advisory board’, on rights, equality, and inclusion, however distinguished, is likely to be bad news for Jewish Canadians already facing the highest rates of anti-religious and pro-terrorist harassment and hate crimes with little to no effective cultural and legal criminal deterrence and enforcement of existing criminal code and human rights legal protections. Yes, we can read the law, and we know you are breaking it, Canada.
This will only perpetuate the usual go-nowhere DEI (diversity, equity, inclusion) debates of attrition between minorities and is in my view little more than window dressing. Why do our white Christian elites always think cozy tea party chats and ‘diversity panels’ will assuage the problems they are causing?

The Canadian government had previously announced its commitment to a priority to combat antisemitism (as it has done ineffectively so many times before) in January of this year. I would invite anyone to keep the antacids handy while following all the related bureaucratic links within these documents summarizing all the great things our Canadian government has done 'for the Jews' in recent years, announced on the resumption of our Canadian Parliament just following the Bondi Beach Massacre in Australia in December 2025.

As a social and political theorist and legal scholar and human rights advocate, I find it abhorrent that our Canadian government is now attempting to placate our small but lawful and beleaguered Canadian Jewish community very much at risk from the malfeasance of other Canadians and minority communities by relegating us to the status of 'just another colorful minority' in our great Canadian heritage. We're far too well educated for that. It's time for those complicit in our oppression as Jewish Canadians (and we are NOT victimizing other Canadians) to educate themselves.
I find it especially concerning that our Government has not made any meaningful commitments to enhancing immigration scrutiny, border security, criminal law enforcement of hate crimes and hate criminals, counter-terrorism and educating Canadians about pro-terrorist disinformation campaigns, or related anti-semitic and anti-Israel propaganda (including that propagated by its own Canadian tax funded CBC who label terrorists as 'militants' and who have demonstrated verifiable anti-Israel bias in their coverage of the Mideast conflict and Israel-Gaza War). It's just optics. They are selling us out once again.
Our Canadian system is deeply broken. Our Canadian dream is dying. This is not the fault of law abiding Jewish Canadians, who have served Canada lawfully and with distinction for more than 150 years, even pre-Confederation, despite systemic antisemitism, and who remain statistically the highest educated and most economically productive demographic in Canada, despite our small numbers in the population.
We are not merely another 'heritage minute' or colorful minority in the Canadian multicultural mosaic. Someone should tell our white Christian elites, especially our Prime Minister and chattering classes and media commentators.
It is indeed burdensome to be both the historic and current victims of the idiocy of our compatriots, but I assure you that they will be held accountable, hopefully with a snap election coming soon, and future class action legal strategies to Jewish Canadians for the damages they have already caused. Other ethnic minorities victimized systemically by our governments have already sued successfully for reparations. Why not the Jews?
Well, good luck to our hockey players at the upcoming Winter Olympics. (That seems to be the only thing holding us together culturally as Canadians these days. And donuts.)
I'm off to buy another Israel Bond. It seems the most sensible thing to do. Our economy is now in recession and our government and culture are in decline.
