Carter and October 7
Carter did a lot of good things. He kept the peace during the Iran hostage crisis. He inaugurated the Chanukah public Menorah lighting outside the White House. And he did other good things.
But he advocated that the way to bring peace, was for Israel to give away land. He was proven wrong.
Giving away Sinai at Camp David, resulted in a cold and unsecure peace treaty (which was almost undone after Mubarak was overthrown), deprived Israel of important oil reserves in the Sinai, and facilitated weapon smuggling to Hamas.
After Israel gave away Gaza, it led to countless rocket attacks, incursions into Israel, and battles, culminating in the horrific October 7 attack and the current war.
The way to bring peace, is to announce clearly, that Israel is not giving away any land.
Because when terrorists think that they might have something to gain via terrorism, it motivates and encourages them to terrorize.
So by declaring that Israel is not giving away land, it saves lives, including Arab lives.
October 7 opened everyone’s eyes.
Suddenly ‘never again’ took on a whole new meaning. Never again give away land. Never again enable terrorists to have territory, where they can mobilize, and from where they can launch attacks and endanger all of Israel.
Israel now has a government that is against creating a Palestinian state. Because it’s dangerous to do so.
There’s a new sheriff in town. Israel is eliminating the bad guys, and striking fear in the hearts of enemies. After the miraculous fall of Syria, Israel destroyed Syrian armaments, thus depriving potential terrorists from using those weapons.
Israel is making the right moves. And G-d is blessing Israel’s efforts to be successful.
The world is seeing a new Israel, standing strong, and taking measures that will enhance peace.
Because when haters sense weakness, they are encouraged to pounce. But when they see a formidable foe standing strong, ready to stop them, then they back off.
And then there is peace.
