“Cause I’m Leavin’ on a jet plane”

As he so artfully does, President Trump, nemesis of Democrats, dropped another salvo by announcing the gift of a $400 million dollar Qatar owned Boeing 747-8 plane.

Ka-boom!

After initially barely remarking on it, the ratings challenged networks, suddenly thought they had a winner and ran with it.

“It’s a bribe!”

“Qatar fosters terrorists!’

One, the gift is not to Trump but the federal government. Two, Hamas celebs residing in Qatar luxury hotels and the flooding of American universities with cash and faculty spouting theories of “Israel apartheid, colonialism, genocide” didn’t seem to receive the same indignation .

Let’s be realistic.

1. The U.S. has a large military presence in Qatar, especially at Al Udeid Added Air Base, the largest base in the Middle East.

2. Qatar must have recognized that its funding of Hamas has had its downside and it risks being isolated in the new Middle East re-alignments.

3. The Trump administration may soon ban its college and universe donations.

4. Four hundred million dollars spent on a plane is $400 million less spent on terrorists.

So, what did Trump say in the midst of the brouhaha?

“I think it’s a great gesture from Qatar”, he said.”I appreciate in very much. I would never turn down that kind of offer. I mean, I could be a stupid person say ‘No, I don’t want a free, very expense airplane’.”

Then, he took off for Saudi Arabia where Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman greeted him at the foot of the purple carpeted stairway of Air Force One.

Trump’s Saudi visit has sent an undeniable message to the world.

“Who’s the Boss?”

Trump has changed Middle East history and opened the door to extraordinary investment in the United States by Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.

To top it off, he brought along the richest man in the word, Elon Musk, whose DOGE team has uncovered billions in wasted taxpayer dollars. Musk also sends up rockets weekly, created a car company and is planning to go to Mars.

Finally, Trump gave the networks and Democrats another couple of hours of outraged spinning.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) promptly declared “I am announcing a hold on all DOJ political nominees until we get more answers “ on this “clearly unethical deal”.

All right, Trump is no butterfly.

He sort of lumbers.

But think of the hippopotamus.

He looks as if he couldn’t move but he is extraordinarily fast, can reach speeds of 19 mph and is a lethal tank.
