CBC Report – Netanyahu Flight Path – Security Risk
This evening I checked the CBC News mainly for an update on our Olympic medal count and instead found this tendentious report by our tax funded CBC, potentially threatening the safety of Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and his plane and entourage now visiting Washington DC for urgent meetings with the US government on negotiations with Iran.

It used flight-tracking software to trace Mr. Netanyahu’s flight paths to urgent meetings with US President Donald Trump in Washington and previously in Florida, and made special note that Netanyahu’s plane had briefly crossed Canadian airspace.
For security reasons, Global Affairs Canada refused comment on specifics in response to CBC queries in regard to Mr. Netanyahu’s flight or whether formal clearance had been sought to fly over several Canadian provinces in its route to Washington.
Global Affairs Canada was reported today in the Times of Israel to have condemned recent efforts by Israel to annex areas of the West Bank as violations of international law.

I remain deeply concerned about potential security risks caused by this CBC report and hostile actors in Canada posing potential threats to Mr. Netanyahu, his plane, and his entourage, given the tendentious and hostile tenor of this CBC report, which includes specific details of Mr. Netanyahu’s flight paths.
This is unprecedented treatment for a government head of state and ally of Canada. Did the CBC believe it was acting in the public interest or on our PM’s direction? Israel is not under the jurisdiction of the ICC. It never ratified the Rome Statute. But that doesn’t matter to the CBC. Or Canadian PM Mark Carney, or our Global Affairs Minister Anita Anand, apparently.
I have passed my concerns to Israeli consular and foreign ministry officials and to Canadian government leaders and CBC management and media and Jewish community colleagues in regard to this irresponsible report.
I urged the CBC to pull the report in the interest of international security and our diplomatic relations with our ally, Israel. As of this writing, it remains on the CBC website, and I remain concerned about potential spillover effects of this biased report to the safety and security of vulnerable Jewish Canadians and Israeli Canadians and Jewish community sites already at high risk.
Typical of its biased anti-Israel ‘lawfare’ agenda, the CBC cited Canadian PM Mark Carney’s off-the-cuff remarks to Bloomberg magazine that he would arrest Mr. Netanyahu were he to land in Canada.
I have noted to the CBC that Israel has not ratified the Rome Statute and is not under the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, but the CBC persists in pursuing this anti-Israel smear campaign.
Please see below recent sanctions against the ICC and its judges (including a Canadian judge) issued by the US government and its Secretary of State Marco Rubio rejecting these invalid attempts to persecute the US and its allies such as Israel through misguided ‘lawfare’. The US government has similarly noted that Israel has not ratified the Rome Statute and is not under ICC jurisdiction.

Our Canadian government is something of a weak player and ‘middle power’ in the Mideast and has recently been excluded from US President Trump’s Gaza Board of Peace and has reportedly declined to contribute the required $1 billion fee to participate. Our Global Affairs Minister Anita Anand announced instead that Canada would continue to fund humanitarian aid in Gaza in existing commitments of $400 million Canadian and stand by its principles.

Israel is facing urgent negotiations with the US President and his team on next steps in Iran and is facing real existential challenges and potential threats in regard to Iran’s continued state sponsorship of proxy terrorism as well as its nuclear and ballistic missiles programs, which have targeted Israel in the past. Recent economic and political disorder and protests in Iran are additional considerations, as are the US government’s recent clear statements and warnings to Iran.
However, the CBC and Canadian leftist anti-Israel activists and media continue their one-sided condemnations of Israel and its government, at alarming levels. One wonders what they would do under Islamist terrorist rocket attack. They would probably blame Israel for that too!
Given recent developments in Canada, including attempts by anti-Israel leftists to hound and harass IDF veterans and their families, as well as the recent detention of Israeli comedian Guy Hochman at the Toronto International Airport for several hours of questioning, requiring Israeli diplomatic intervention to allow Mr. Hochman to perform that evening in Toronto, it remains to be seen what fate Mr. Netanyahu or Mr. Gallant would face were they to land in Canada.
In any case, this does not bode well for Canada-Israel diplomatic relations nor the security of Israel citizens abroad or Mr. Netanyahu and his entourage, or Jewish or Israeli Canadians here at home.
I have referred this report to the TOI Editorial Board and to leading Israeli news outlets for further coverage. Please follow up there for updates on this story. And please pray for Israel and its people.
Am Yisrael Chai.
