Confronting terrorism and transnational organized crime increasingly demands cooperation among governments, experts, security institutions, and public policy makers. With this purpose, the Chamber of Deputies will host, on August 4, 2026, in Brasília (DF), the First Regional Security and Counterterrorism Forum — a gathering that will bring together authorities, researchers, and professionals to debate one of the greatest challenges in contemporary international security.
With the central theme “The Terror–Crime Nexus: Terrorism, Transnational Organized Crime, and Illicit Financing”, the forum will provide an in-depth analysis of the connections between terrorist organizations, criminal networks, and the financing mechanisms that sustain illicit activities across different regions of the world. The goal is to expand dialogue on prevention strategies, intelligence, international cooperation, and the strengthening of public policies aimed at protecting society.
The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 2 p.m. to 6:40 p.m. at the Chamber of Deputies. Its program will feature panels and debates led by national and international experts, offering a valuable opportunity for exchanging experiences and building joint solutions to threats that transcend borders.
The forum’s organization includes the participation of legislative consultant Clarita Maia, who will also preside over the opening session. The initiative underscores the Legislative Branch’s commitment to fostering qualified discussions on regional security, counterterrorism, and the fight against financial structures that sustain criminal and terrorist organizations.
More than a space for reflection, the First Regional Security and Counterterrorism Forum aims to strengthen institutional cooperation, encourage knowledge production, and contribute to the development of increasingly effective policies to confront terrorism and organized crime. In a global context marked by complex and interconnected challenges, the meeting represents an important step toward expanding dialogue and consolidating actions capable of promoting greater security, stability, and protection for Brazilian society and the international community.
