City Council Members Head For Israel

City Council Speaker Christine Quinn is to announce has announced that she'll lead a delegation of Council members on a trip to Israel next week.

Such missions occur frequently and are not at taxpayer expense: The Jewish Community Relations Council picks up the tab. The trips allow members to fill their newsletters with pro-Israel photo ops and tell stories on the campaign trail. On one such trip Quinn and company came under rocket attack in Sderot. The trips also allow JCRC and the Israeli government to show the officials, many of whom will go on to higher office, their side of the story from an on-the-ground perspective.
