I’ll tell you why Congresswoman Ilhan Omar from Minnesota is an outspoken anti-Semite. The Middle East is home to some of the most ruthless dictators, autocrats, and despots, who rule their countries as feudal overlords and dynastic tyrants. But the freshman legislator entered the U.S. Capitol with her eyes, ears, and mouth shut to their crimes against humanity. Instead she came out with guns blazing at one tiny state, Israel, too small for many maps to identify it in writing.
From the halls of Congress she should have been fulsome in praise of finding sanctuary and safe haven in the United States of America. She should have rejoiced publically in being welcomed to the democratic delights of America.
Immediately after thanking this country for opening the doors to freedom, she should have used her congressional perch to highlight the sins and sorrows of her birthplace, the failed state of Somalia. But once again she reacted with the silence of a cop-out.
She overlooked the genocide inflicted on an estimated half a million Syrian men, women and children by a president groomed by his equally pitiless father to succeed him. Both used poison gas on their own people. Millions more escaped the bloodbath by fleeing to Europe, Lebanon and Jordan.
But note how during this catastrophe the congresswoman did not speak out as Iran, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and untold other Muslim-ruled countries sealed their borders to the screams of Syrian refugees.
Congresswoman Omar should have railed against the theocratic terror in Iran, where mullahs and their henchmen squashed an uprising for freedom with cold-blooded savagery.
A woman of proud Muslim heritage should have seized the congressional podium in defense of her ethnically cleansed Rohingya brethren in Myanmar. Even as they found squalid shelter in the isolated refugee camps of neighboring Bangladesh, their cries did not move Ilhan Omar to speak up for them, stridently and repetitively.
Representative Omar saw no evil, heard no evil, and closed her mouth to the single-party atrocities perpetrated daily in Russia, China, Africa and Latin America.
Why does she not berate the Muslim government of Turkey for invading Cyprus and permanently uprooting untold numbers of Greek-Cypriots? The Minnesotan congresswoman notably accepted the flight of millions of Muslims to the safety of Pakistan, to escape death at the hands of India’s Hindus. In both cases there was no insistence for the right of return for the displaced.
Saviors in the lands that accepted refugees from war quickly integrated those made homeless and stateless. That’s what saved the estimated 800,000 Jews who abandoned everything in Arab lands to find succor and new lives in nascent Israel.
Only the refugees from war-torn Israel remain secluded and simmering by host countries, which adamantly refuse to let them integrate.
From all these worldwide horrors, Congresswoman Ilhan Omar singles out Israel and its Jews for condemnation. This selective concern is proof positive of her anti-Semitism.
